On the afternoon of September 17, in the opening match of round 4 of the National Women's Championship - Thai Son Bac Cup 2025, Hanoi defeated TP HCM 2 with a score of 2-0, thereby temporarily rising to the top of the table, surpassing the defending champion TP HCM 1.
Facing the tight defensive play of coach Luu Ngoc Mai, Hanoi Women's Club entered the match with full concentration. Facing a strong opponent, TP HCM 2, as expected, deployed the "parking the bus" style of play from the start, clustering together to prevent the visitors' consecutive attacks.
Hai Yen almost opened the score
The harsh weather made the task of scoring even more difficult for the capital representative. In the 32nd minute, Hai Yen seemed to have a good chance to finish but the ball stopped at the 16m50 line, allowing the home team's defense to promptly clear the danger.
The constant pressure finally brought the opening goal. In the 39th minute, during a quick attack, the confusion of the HCM City 2 defense created conditions for Thuy Nhi to unleash a dangerous shot, putting Hanoi ahead.
In the second half, the Capital team continued to dominate. In the 60th minute, Hai Yen headed the ball and then kicked the ball accurately, doubling the gap to 2-0.
Hanoi Women's Club won 2-0 to temporarily take the top spot.
With a safe gap of 2 goals, Hanoi proactively slowed down the match. In the 79th minute, they almost paid the price when Kieu Nghi escaped to face the ball but her shot missed the post.
In the end, Hanoi still won 2-0 and temporarily led the rankings with 19 points. However, this top position may only be temporary, because if TP HCM I (9 points) wins tomorrow's match on September 18, the defending champion will reclaim the number one position.
The remaining matches of round 4 will take place tomorrow, including the clashes between Phong Phu Ha Nam – Thai Nguyen T&T, Than KSVN – TP HCM 1.
