Thanh Hoa promotes biometric application at Tho Xuan Airport

At the first meeting of the Government's Steering Committee on science , technology, innovation, digital transformation and Project 06, the Prime Minister requested that by the second quarter of 2025, 100% of airports, ports and border gates nationwide must deploy biometric solutions on the VNeID platform.

Responding to that spirit, on May 27, 2025, the Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 7590/UBND-HCKSTTHC, requesting the Ministry of Public Security , Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Construction and Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) to support the implementation of the application at Tho Xuan Airport.

Based on the direction, relevant units quickly installed, tested and officially put the biometric system into use from August 1, 2025.

According to statistics, as of September 2, 3,521/53,191 passengers (accounting for 6.6%) have passed through automatic security gates using this technology. Although the initial rate is still low, this is an important foundation for expanding and improving the effectiveness of the application in the future.

To enhance the effectiveness of implementation, on September 8, 2025, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee continued to issue Official Dispatch No. 15005/UBND-HCC requesting Tho Xuan Airport to closely coordinate with airlines such as Vietnam Airlines , Vietjet... and the Provincial Police to organize instructions for passengers to use. Accordingly, the information counters are located near the automatic door area, with staff directly explaining and supporting, ensuring that passengers clearly understand the process and easily access new technology.

The Provincial Police Department is responsible for assigning professional units to coordinate with the Airport and airlines to organize the implementation, and at the same time, daily summarize the implementation results, report difficulties and problems to the Ministry of Public Security. Monitoring, evaluating and advising will help the implementation process achieve real effectiveness, avoiding formality.

At the same time, the press agencies will increase propaganda and popularize the benefits of biometric technology to the general public. This is an important channel to change habits, help passengers clearly understand the benefits, and then actively use it when checking in for flights.

The application of biometric technology at Tho Xuan Airport not only contributes to improving service experience and shortening check-in time for passengers, but also plays an important role in ensuring flight security and safety. This is a concrete step, demonstrating Thanh Hoa's determination in implementing national digital transformation, towards the goal of comprehensive modernization of the aviation industry and related public services.
