Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry's Youth Union Ngo Ba Hoang Hai emphasized that this year's Journey to the Source is part of a series of programs celebrating the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, as well as activities towards the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Diplomatic sector, while also carrying out the task of educating revolutionary traditions assigned by the Ministry's leaders.

Don Hamlet, Minh Thanh Commune, Son Duong District, Tuyen Quang Province was where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was headquartered from late 1947 to 1954.

This is a place recognized by the State as a historical relic of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was the residence and workplace of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' officers and employees in the Viet Bac resistance base during the 9 years of fighting against the French colonialists.

Mr. Ngo Ba Hoang Hai affirmed that this program not only helps cadres and youth union members understand more about the history and traditions of the industry, but also contributes to embellishing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs historical site to become more spacious through volunteer activities of embellishment and cleaning.

On behalf of the Ministry's Youth Union, he expressed his deep gratitude to the authorities and youth union members of Minh Thanh commune for their enthusiastic support in preserving the relic site, as well as creating favorable conditions for the journey to the source to take place successfully.

Within the framework of the program, the delegation visited and offered incense at Tan Trao communal house - the place where President Ho Chi Minh and the Party Central Committee chose as the venue for the National Congress on August 16-17, 1945, a major historical event that laid the foundation for the success of the August Revolution. Here, the Congress approved the Party's policy of carrying out the General Uprising; approved 10 major policies of the Viet Minh; regulated the national flag and national anthem of Vietnam; elected the Vietnam National Liberation Committee, namely the provisional government, with Ho Chi Minh as President. Under the roof of this communal house, on the morning of August 17, 1945, on behalf of the Vietnam National Liberation Committee, President Ho Chi Minh read the oath at the National Introduction Ceremony.

Tan Trao special national relic site is where President Ho Chi Minh and central agencies lived and worked during the pre-uprising period and the resistance war against French colonialism. The total natural area of the entire site is 561.1 square kilometers.

With the special historical, cultural and scientific values of the relic site, the Prime Minister decided to rank Tan Trao Historical Relic Site (Son Duong and Yen Son districts, Tuyen Quang province) as a Special National Relic (Decision No. 548/QD-TTg, dated May 10, 2012).

The memorial site is not only a historical witness, but also a strong source of inspiration for the younger generation to continue promoting patriotism, responsibility and creativity in their work, contributing to building a strong and modern diplomacy.

Talking to reporters of the World and Vietnam Newspaper, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry's Youth Union Ngo Ba Hoang Hai expressed his hope that, with the slogan "Keeping the fire of tradition - Stepping forward to the future", all youth union members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regardless of their positions, will always promote pride and awareness of preserving the heritage left by our ancestors. With their youth and creative intelligence, each member will not only contribute to building a strong agency and unit but also continue the steady steps of the previous generation, creating a bright and promising future for the country.
