Deepening cooperation between Guangxi (China) and Vietnamese localities

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh met with Secretary of the Guangxi Regional Party Committee Tran Cuong on May 16.

The meeting took place right after the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, which had a special significance, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations. 2025 is also the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations and was chosen by the two countries as the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year.

At the meeting, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh highly appreciated the historical role and strategic position of Guangxi in the Vietnam-China friendship, and expressed his joy at the outstanding cooperation results between Vietnamese localities and Guangxi in recent times.

Cooperation between Guangxi and Vietnam has been effectively implemented in many areas such as connecting transport infrastructure, especially railways and roads, facilitating trade, investment, import and export of agricultural products and many other areas. The fact that Vietnam has been Guangxi's largest trading partner for the past 26 consecutive years, with an annual turnover growth of about 16.4%, is a clear demonstration of the close and substantial relationship between the two sides, and at the same time shows the great potential for cooperation between Guangxi and localities of Vietnam.

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives high priority to developing relations with China, considering this an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority in foreign policy; highly appreciating Guangxi's important contributions to the success of the recent State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.

The Vietnamese Embassy in China is ready to closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam and China, including Guangxi, to realize the common perceptions reached between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries.

Warmly welcoming Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh and the Embassy delegation to visit, Secretary of the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Tran Cuong affirmed that Vietnam plays an important role in implementing Guangxi's foreign opening and cooperation.

"Guangxi is ready to thoroughly grasp and implement the common perceptions between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries, as well as the agreements reached between Guangxi and Vietnamese localities, and continue to be the leading force in promoting the friendly relations between China and Vietnam," Mr. Tran Cuong emphasized.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the Year of Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange, Guangxi wishes to work with Vietnam to further deepen cooperation in areas such as economy - trade, seamless connection of border infrastructure, and humanitarian exchange, contributing to the goal of building a Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

In addition, Mr. Tran Cuong said that Guangxi's strategic development orientation is based on innovation, especially artificial intelligence (AI) technology, and hopes to promote cooperation between Guangxi and ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, in this field.

Also within the framework of his working trip to Guangxi, on the afternoon of May 16, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh attended the 8th fishery resource regeneration release activity in the Gulf of Tonkin, jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China and the Guangxi Government. This is a practical activity, contributing to protecting the marine ecological environment, improving the livelihoods of fishermen and promoting sustainable cooperation in the fisheries sector between the two countries.

On the morning of May 17, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh directly surveyed the field at important cooperation areas between Vietnam and China, including the smart border gate area, the Dongxing - Mong Cai cross-border economic cooperation zone and the Dongxing high-speed railway station.

Here, the Ambassador listened to representatives of Chinese authorities introduce in detail the master plan, construction progress of related items and the coordination situation in implementing the above projects between the border localities of the two sides.
