In Cha May village, Long He commune, Mr. Thao A Hong is one of the typical young people who started a business from the model of growing hawthorn and raising local black chickens. In 2017, with the support of the District Youth Union for preferential loans, Mr. Hong and 11 households in the village established Cha May Cooperative, investing 300 million VND to plant and care for nearly 200 hectares of hawthorn; at the same time, linking and consuming products for the people. Each year, the Cooperative consumes more than 700 tons of hawthorn, with profits after deducting expenses reaching more than 1 billion VND. In 2024, Thao A Hong continued to advocate for the establishment of a black chicken cooperative, with 6 members, raising more than 1,000 black chickens in the form of free-range farming. Currently, the chickens are growing well and are sold in batches.
Mr. Hong shared: Thanks to the support of the District Youth Union, members of the cooperative can participate in training courses on cultivation techniques, cooperative management skills and are supported with plant varieties to expand the area. In addition, the District Youth Union also creates conditions for the cooperative to participate in trade fairs and conferences to promote agricultural products, helping the cooperative to promote products and expand the market for products.
In 2016, Mr. Lo Van Cuong, Hon village, Phong Ly commune, was entrusted by the Commune Youth Union to borrow 100 million VND from the Social Policy Bank to renovate 7 hectares of coffee growing land. Mr. Cuong shared: In addition to capital, the Commune Youth Union also allowed me to visit coffee growing models and participate in training courses on applying science and technology to production. Thanks to that, my family's coffee trees always grow well, each year yielding nearly 40 tons of coffee fruit, after deducting expenses, earning nearly 700 million VND in profit.
From 2024 to present, the District Youth Union has supported the completion of 4 creative startup ideas and projects; established and maintained nearly 30 models of young people doing good business . Youth startup clubs have been strengthened, regularly organizing activities, sharing experiences and market information. In addition, the District Youth Union has coordinated with the District Employment Service Center and businesses to organize over 40 consulting and job introduction activities for nearly 20,000 union members and young people.
Mr. Thao A Sinh, Secretary of Thuan Chau District Youth Union, said: The District Youth Union coordinated with the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank and Agribank Thuan Chau Branch to help youth union members access preferential loans for investment in production and business, with a total outstanding loan of more than 193 billion VND. In addition, the District Youth Union also created conditions for youth union members to learn and apply technical advances to build production models suitable to local conditions. All proposed youth start-up models were evaluated by the District Youth Union in terms of feasibility, efficiency and replicability.
Continuing to accompany young union members in creative startups, digital transformation, improving management skills and building suitable economic models, Thuan Chau District Youth Union organizes training courses, technology transfer, improving production capacity, adapting to the market; strengthening connections, creating stable output for products, creating jobs for union members and young people and contributing to the economic and social development of the locality.
