Author Katherine Scott suggests that a 4-6 day trip would be the ideal amount of time for visitors to explore Ho Chi Minh City.

Must-see destinations here include the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Headquarters, the Opera House, the Central Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral and the city's famous Book Street.

Nearby, The Cafe Apartments, a modern box-shaped building that has been preserved since the 1960s, is located on Nguyen Hue Walking Street. Now, it is a complex of uniquely decorated cafes, bars and shops that are worth a visit when in Ho Chi Minh City.

For visitors curious about the city’s wartime past, the War Remnants Museum is a must-see, providing an insight into the history of Ho Chi Minh City today. The museum currently has 9 permanent exhibitions, many short-term and traveling exhibitions, and organizes receptions, meetings, and exchanges between the public and war witnesses. With nearly 1 million visitors annually, the War Remnants Museum has become one of the most attractive cultural and tourist destinations for the Vietnamese and international public.

Or Du Fu Coffee Shop. This is an ideal historical meeting place for tourists who want to discover more about Vietnam during the war. Du Fu Coffee Shop used to be a wartime bunker and secret wartime arsenal of our people. Visitors can buy drinks here to have more opportunities to experience the museum and the fascinating underground passages.

Throughout history, Do Phu Coffee has been associated with the secret operations of the Saigon Special Forces. Before 1975, this place was one of the secret bases of the Saigon Special Forces under the management of Mr. Tran Van Lai (Nam Lai).

Nowadays, Do Phu coffee is included in tours to explore Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City by travel companies, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists.

Coming to Ho Chi Minh City, coffee is a drink that any international tourist cannot miss. Drinks such as whipped egg coffee are rated excellent. The author also recommends Okkio Caffe to enjoy.

“For a more exciting start, try a half-day local street experience on a motorbike, and enjoy traditional dishes here,” writes author Katherine Scott.

Of course, street food markets like Binh Tay and Phung Hung are also popular destinations for tourists. And a tour by scooter or motorbike will cover more of the foodie experiences than going it alone.

In addition, fine dining is also an option for tourists when coming to Ho Chi Minh City. Anan Saigon, a Michelin-starred restaurant, will be an attractive choice for tourists. Before receiving the Michelin star, Anan Saigon won the Best Restaurant Award in Vietnam within the framework of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants in 2021 and 2023. Mr. Peter Cuong Franklin is a Vietnamese-American chef who studied at Le Cordon Bleu and trained at world-famous restaurants such as Caprice in Hong Kong, Alinea in Chicago and Nahm in Bangkok. Many dishes with Vietnamese identity are available at the restaurant such as rolls, spring rolls, pho, banh mi, etc., which are delicately and beautifully presented.

Furthermore, the author also expressed special impressions with a day trip to Cu Chi Tunnels – a famous historical base, a 2-hour drive from the center of Ho Chi Minh City, giving Katherine Scott an insight into the tunnel system that ran winding underground during the war.

The Cu Chi Tunnels have gone down in the history of the heroic struggle of the Vietnamese people as a legend of the 20th century and have become a famous place in the world. This is a unique and unparalleled wonder of war with about 250 km of tunnels spreading like a spider web underground./.
