According to VNA, speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that the meeting to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the historic Moncada uprising and launch a campaign to support the construction of solar power systems for schools in Cuba is a vivid demonstration of the great and lasting friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cuba, a sentiment that has been forged through the harsh challenges of time.

According to Mr. Ha, despite the geographical distance, Vietnam and Cuba are always close in the hearts of every citizen. Quoting the famous saying of President Fidel Castro: “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood”, Mr. Ha affirmed that this is a concrete action, a noble sacrifice that the Cuban people have made for Vietnam.
Mr. Ha said that Cuba is facing many difficulties, including the energy crisis that seriously affects life, especially in the field of education . Therefore, supporting the installation of solar power for schools is a practical action, contributing to sharing difficulties and continuing the tradition of international solidarity of the Vietnamese people.
The campaign was launched by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations and the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association, with the support of many agencies, organizations and social communities. The campaign lasts until November 30, 2025.

At the ceremony, the organizing committee received more than 1.6 billion VND in contributions from 12 units, businesses and philanthropists to support the installation of solar power for primary schools in Cuba.
Ms. Ariadne Feo Labrada, Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed her gratitude for the sentiments and practical support that the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City have given to Cuba. She said that the “Sunshine Without Borders” program demonstrates the spirit of sharing, compassion and internationalism - core values that contribute to fostering the special relationship between the two peoples.
On behalf of the Party, Government and people of Cuba, she respectfully acknowledged and thanked the support of organizations, businesses, friends of Cuba as well as the Vietnamese people who have joined hands to contribute to bringing better learning conditions to Cuban children during a difficult period.
