Individuals were awarded medals for their contributions to the work of protecting, caring for and promoting the role of the elderly in Vietnam.
At the conference, delegates reviewed the traditions of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly and evaluated the results of its activities over the past years. The city currently has nearly 30,700 members, accounting for 80.4% of the elderly. The association at all levels has constantly innovated its content and methods of operation; the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" has achieved comprehensive results, the prestige and role of the association have been increasingly affirmed.
Over the past 5 years, cadres and members of the Elderly Association have actively participated in building the Party and government, maintaining security and order, and building cultural families. Attention has been paid to the care and promotion of the role of the elderly. Every year, 100% of eligible elderly people are celebrated with longevity; over 8,000 elderly people receive periodic health check-ups, and nearly 95% are issued health insurance cards.
In the coming time, the City Elderly Association strives to gather over 95% of the elderly into the association; 100% of grassroots associations coordinate to organize periodic health check-ups at least once a year for members; 100% of the elderly are eligible to be congratulated, celebrated with longevity and enjoy full benefits according to regulations; 90% of grassroots associations and 80% of branches achieve the title "Old Age - Bright Example".
On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly awarded commemorative medals to 7 individuals who have made many contributions to the cause of protecting, caring for and promoting the role of the elderly.
