The city has accelerated the progress of establishing and approving zoning plans and detailed plans for key areas, gradually building a synchronous and environmentally friendly technical and social infrastructure system. Projects such as the road connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway with the city center, model residential areas... are all integrated with green development criteria, using sustainable materials, arranging parks, flower gardens, and regulating lakes. Urban green space and community living space have been expanded in many central wards.
Along with planning, the city has mobilized and effectively used investment resources to develop green urban infrastructure. Urban renovation and beautification projects such as Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Nguyen Thai Hoc Street... are harmoniously designed, ensuring landscape and traffic safety.
The collection and treatment of waste and domestic wastewater continues to receive attention: the waste collection rate in the inner city area reaches 98%; waste transfer points are renovated in a civilized and clean direction. The city is piloting a model of waste classification at source, gradually building a sustainable waste management system.
Identifying people as the center and subject of the urban development process, the city has implemented many practical models, promoting the role of the community in building a green, clean and beautiful living environment. The movements "Bright - green - clean - beautiful streets", "Green Saturday", "Say no to plastic waste" have been widely deployed, attracting a large number of people to participate. Many residential groups have proactively renovated common spaces, planted flowers and ornamental plants, collected waste and maintained street hygiene. Public spaces such as Yen Hoa Park, 19/8 Square... have become destinations for cultural and sports activities of people, especially in the morning and evening.
Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Nhi in residential group 11, Yen Ninh ward shared: "Since the ward launched the model street model, people have actively planted trees and kept the street clean, so the street is much more beautiful and cleaner than before. Every morning when going out and seeing the green trees, everyone is happier."
The "Green Sunday" movement of Yen Bai city's youth union members contributes to making the city greener, cleaner and more beautiful.
Along with that, propaganda work to raise people's awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development is carried out regularly through loudspeaker systems, social networks and specialized conferences at the grassroots level. Socio-political organizations play a key role in mobilizing members to participate in tree planting, waste collection and building model residential areas.
Besides positive results, the development of green urban areas in Yen Bai city still has some difficulties, such as: wastewater treatment infrastructure in suburban residential areas is not yet synchronized; the ratio of green trees per capita does not meet standards; environmental protection awareness of a part of the people and businesses is still limited...
To continue to perfect the criteria of a green city, the city focuses on promoting the renovation, embellishment and expansion of urban space; developing urban trees and public spaces; strengthening the management of construction order, protecting landscapes and ecological environment. At the same time, the city will mobilize diverse social resources, creating conditions for businesses and people to participate in the process of building a civilized and modern urban area.
According to comrade Nguyen Ngoc Truc - Chairman of Yen Bai City People's Committee, the locality will continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the contents of Resolution No. 23, especially the development orientation towards green, identity, happiness while building ecological urban areas, adapting to climate change, associated with socio-economic development as the key task in the coming period.
With high political determination, methodical approach and consensus of the people, Yen Bai city is gradually realizing the goal of becoming a green, livable city in the midland and mountainous region of the North. This is not only the result of a development period but also a solid foundation for sustainable progress in the future.
