Long Bien Bridge barrier removed, repair date postponed after traffic chaos

After the traffic chaos, the Hanoi Department of Construction requested the removal of barriers and postponed the repair time of Long Bien Bridge to agree on a traffic diversion plan and widely notify the people.

Hanoi Department of Construction has just announced the adjustment of traffic organization across Long Bien Bridge to serve the construction and repair work of the bridge.

According to the adjustment plan, the road on Long Bien bridge in the section for non-motorized vehicles from Bo De ward to Hoan Kiem ward will be closed during the construction period of 61 days (from November 1 to December 31, instead of being closed from October 27 as licensed). When the road is closed, vehicles will travel in the direction of Long Bien - Xuan Quan road through Chuong Duong bridge.

Hanoi Department of Construction requested the repair unit to remove the barrier and postpone the repair date of Long Bien bridge.

For Tran Nhat Duat Street, during construction, the mobile barrier will occupy 6.5m of the road surface (the remaining road width for traffic is 6.5m) for 20 days (November 1 - November 22). The construction unit of the hard barrier will occupy 5.6m of the road surface (the remaining road width for traffic is 8m) for 35 days (November 16 - December 21).

On the morning of October 29, traffic was partially congested at the entrance to Long Bien Bridge (Bo De Ward) and the Chuong Duong Bridge area. The cause was that the Long Bien Bridge repair contractor, after being granted a permit, barricaded the bridge to repair it without notifying the authorities and local authorities to coordinate traffic flow and regulation.

After the traffic around Long Bien Bridge was chaotic due to the barricades, the Long Bien Bridge repair unit removed the fences "under the direction of the Hanoi Department of Construction".

The barricading and repair of Long Bien bridge caused traffic chaos at both ends of the bridge on October 29.

Along with that, the Hanoi Department of Construction requires that the construction area must have barriers, reflective tape, signs, lighting, and night lights installed to ensure safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic...
