Lighting candles in gratitude on the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day

DTO - On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on the evening of April 28, at martyrs' cemeteries and memorials to heroic martyrs across the country, Youth Union chapters at all levels simultaneously held candle lighting ceremonies to pay tribute to heroic martyrs.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union coordinated with the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to organize a candle lighting ceremony to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at the Ho Chi Minh City Martyrs' Cemetery. The ceremony was broadcast online to 8 provincial and municipal bridges: Quang Tri, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Long An, Dong Thap. In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, through the online screen, delegates, union members, and youth at the bridges were introduced to the martyrs' cemeteries in the provinces and cities: Quang Tri, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Long An, Dong Thap; reviewed the traditions and heroic feats of previous generations...

In Dong Thap province, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee organized a candle lighting ceremony to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at the provincial martyrs cemetery (My Phu ward, Cao Lanh city). Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Pham Duy Trang - Secretary of the Central Youth Union Executive Committee, Chairman of the Central Youth Union Council; Le Quoc Phong - Member of the Central Party Executive Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Tran Tri Quang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; representatives of specialized agencies advising and assisting the Provincial Party Committee; departments, branches, socio- political organizations of the province; leaders of Cao Lanh city and more than 200 union members and youth in the province.


Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Council of the Young Pioneers Nguyen Pham Duy Trang and leaders of the Provincial Youth Union lit candles and offered incense at the martyrs' graves.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, the provincial leaders, delegates, union members and youth respectfully offered flowers and incense at the National Monument and observed a minute of silence to express their deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who fought bravely and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation. At the same time, the provincial leaders, delegates, union members and youth lit candles and offered incense at each martyr's grave. The candle lighting ceremony to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs is an activity demonstrating the tradition and morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" of the youth of the Red Lotus Land towards the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their blood and bones for the war for peace, independence and freedom of the nation. Thereby, promoting andeducating patriotism and national pride for the younger generation.

Previously, on the same day, April 28, comrade Nguyen Pham Duy Trang - Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Council of the Young Pioneers, and leaders of the Provincial Youth Union visited Heroic Vietnamese Mother Ho Thi Phuoc (born in 1925) and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Doan Phuoc Truyen (born in 1947), both residing in Hoa An commune, Cao Lanh city.

During the visit, Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union Nguyen Pham Duy Trang kindly inquired about the health and life of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Ho Thi Phuoc and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Doan Phuoc Truyen for their sacrifices and contributions to the homeland and the country. At the same time, he presented gifts and wished Heroic Vietnamese Mother Ho Thi Phuoc and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Doan Phuoc Truyen a happy and healthy life.
