Celebrity's daughter
Hien Linh is the daughter of Dr. Nguyen Thanh Huy, a martial arts master, member of the World Taekwondo Sustainable Development Committee, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation, and currently the head coach of the Vietnamese national taekwondo poomsae team.
As the daughter of a celebrity, does Hien Linh feel pressured to succeed? The 19-year-old said: "My father never pressured or forced his daughter to do anything; instead, he guided me in the right direction. For me, the pressure to succeed never existed because my parents created opportunities and loved me, always supporting and allowing me to pursue what I love, which made me feel truly relieved. I'm fortunate that I've also chosen the right path that aligns with what my parents want me to achieve."
"I often affectionately call my father 'my father - my teacher,' and especially 'my silent flame.' Because he has always shared and encouraged me throughout my journey, from the beginning of my martial arts career to today," Linh said about her father, martial arts master Nguyen Thanh Huy.
A little girl with a big passion.
As a child, Hien Linh used to accompany her father to the taekwondo gym to have fun and observe the athletes. Gradually, she grew to admire her father and wished to become as "cool" as him. She started training at the District 10 amateur club, and after mastering the forms, she officially joined her father's team to train alongside the senior athletes.
Linh gradually progressed, and she had the opportunity to accompany her father on training and teaching trips both domestically and internationally.
"There's a saying from my father that has motivated me greatly to this day: 'Keep practicing, my daughter, learn English too, and then we'll travel together. I'll always be there for you.' It's not just a simple encouragement, but a message I always keep in my heart to remind myself that I need to try my best, to strive to keep going so that my father can be proud and to be with him on all his trips," Linh confided.
I don't want to be "versatile but not an expert."
Linh shared that as a girl who excels in both academics and martial arts, pressure and stress are unavoidable. However, Linh clearly outlines her direction, plans, and goals to avoid becoming someone who is "multitalented but not proficient."
She's a girl who's good at both academics and martial arts.
Every day, Linh divides her time and plans her studies and training for the following day and the days after that week so that she can address and achieve her goals on time. Similarly, during her studies, she tries to use learning tools to help her complete assignments, striving to concentrate so that she can solve lessons as quickly and efficiently as possible. Afterward, she dedicates time to practicing taekwondo in the late afternoon and evening.
"Throughout the day, I always try to learn more soft skills and hard skills to support myself in the field of digital marketing. And from that foundation, I can apply and develop my taekwondo skills in a more diverse and engaging way. I don't want taekwondo to be just about training and competing," shared the girl who just won first prize in the Personal Branding 4.0 digital branding competition in 2023.
The talented young woman, excelling in both academics and martial arts, also stated that her goal after graduating from university is to become a skilled digital marketing professional, so she can undertake many taekwondo-related projects. "I want to showcase Vietnam's image internationally through taekwondo, enhancing Vietnam's achievements and values on the international stage."
