According to Dr. Thu, the center's goal is to provide patients with medical services that meet international standards by applying advanced scientific achievements in the world. It is also equipped with a system of modern equipment such as a lasik surgery machine to treat refractive errors; phaco to treat cataracts; a Pascal laser system to treat retinas...
"People with eye diseases such as nearsightedness, astigmatism, and farsightedness are forced to wear glasses. In addition, when they get older, they are at risk of developing cataracts, which will make their eyes more blurry and their vision worse. With refractive phaco surgery, these diseases can be solved, helping patients not need glasses, even the elderly who wear reading glasses," said Dr. Thu.
In addition, there is also a pediatric refractive - ophthalmology clinic, which treats myopia using night contact lenses, helping myopic patients not to depend on glasses or contact lenses in daily activities as well as reducing the progression of myopia.
In the coming time, Saigon High-Tech Eye Center will organize humanitarian medical examination and charity eye surgery activities for poor patients, especially young people in difficult circumstances who unfortunately suffer from eye diseases.
According to statistics, in Vietnam, there are about 14-36 million people with refractive errors (accounting for 15-40%). Of which, children between the ages of 6 and 15 have a refractive error rate of 25-40% in urban areas and 10-15% in rural areas.
In addition, diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness in countries around the world . According to statistics, there are currently about 200 million people with diabetes in the world. In Vietnam alone, there are about 4.5 million people, of which about 20% have eye complications at different levels. If not detected and treated early, the damage to the fundus of the eye will be very severe such as macular edema, retinal hemorrhage, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal detachment... leading to blindness.
