Construction on the highway connecting Ha Tinh - Quang Binh on holidays

The Vung Ang - Bung Expressway component project is 55.34km long, with a total investment of VND12,540 billion, of which the section through Ha Tinh is 12.9km long and the section through Quang Binh province is 42.44km long. The starting point of the project is at the intersection of Ky Tan commune, Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province, connecting to Ham Nghi - Vung Ang Expressway; the ending point is at Cu Nam commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province, connecting to Bung - Van Ninh Expressway.

According to the plan, the Vung Ang - Bung expressway was completed on September 30. However, with adjacent expressways such as Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang or Bung - Van Ninh already open and put into operation, the Ministry of Construction requested that the Vung Ang - Bung expressway must be completed by June 30 to ensure synchronous connection.

Up to now, according to information from Project Management Board 6 (Ministry of Construction), the construction output of the entire Vung Ang - Bung expressway has reached over 85%, ensuring that the route can be opened and put into operation on June 30 as committed to the Ministry of Construction.

Compared to other component projects on the North-South expressway, the construction of the Vung Ang - Bung expressway encountered many difficulties due to the complex terrain. In particular, the 942m-long viaduct No. 1 connecting two hills across the valley, the basin terrain in Ky Hoa commune, Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh province is one of the construction items on difficult terrain of the project.

The bridge has 22 girder spans, the highest pillar is up to 50m, and is being constructed by Hoa Binh 479 Joint Stock Company. On the first day of the holiday, putting aside the joy of being with family, the team of workers and engineers still worked hard to make steel for the bridge deck, pour concrete for the pillars and abutments before installing the bridge girders for the last spans. Up to now, the contractor has installed 16/22 spans, the progress from now until June 30 is very short, so the contractor has encouraged the workers and engineers to "work overtime, increase shifts", and postpone the ceremony to bring the project to the finish line on schedule.

Similarly, the Deo But mountain tunnel is nearly 1km long, with an investment capital of more than 1,000 billion VND, and is also a difficult project on the Vung Ang - Bung expressway. The tunnel is designed with 2 tubes, with the left tunnel 716m long, the right tunnel 840m long, each tunnel 15m wide, 8m high, constructed by Son Hai Group.

During the April 30 and May 1 holidays, throughout the construction process from July 2023 to present, this enterprise has always mobilized maximum human resources, mobilized modern equipment and machinery, and divided into "3 shifts, 4 teams" to continuously construct. The right tunnel moving from North to South was dug through on May 19, 2024. Mr. Do Hoai Duong, Construction Manager of Deo But Tunnel of Son Hai Group, said that phase 1 of the project has completed 95% of the volume with concrete paving of the tunnel surface, installation of electrical system, fire protection, cable trays for laying electric wires, ensuring the route is cleared on June 30. For the left tunnel, there are currently about 100,000m3 of earth and rock left to be dug through the tunnel.

From 6 p.m. on April 28, the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressways with a total investment of VND17,300 billion passing through Ha Tinh province, part of the North - South Eastern Expressway project, were officially put into operation, shortening the travel time from Hanoi to Ha Tinh by about 4 hours. To synchronize with the Bung - Van Ninh expressway (Quang Binh) which has also been put into operation, the Ministry of Construction requested contractors to speed up the construction progress to put the Vung Ang - Bung expressway project into operation on June 30 instead of September 30 as planned. Project Management Board 6 (Ministry of Construction) said that the construction output of the entire Vung Ang - Bung expressway is guaranteed to be put into operation as committed to the Ministry of Construction.
