Contribute to traditional cai luong art

The opening event of We stage (formerly We Tea Room) with the play Ganh co song Han - a classic cai luong work that has not been staged by any stage for over 40 years (only the recorded version broadcast by television stations and recorded - released on tape and disc in the 1980s), is the first activity to open the long-term art project that producer Tuan Dat has long cherished.

“I am very fond of Cai Luong and often go to the theater to watch the show. For a long time, I have cherished the idea of investing in a Cai Luong stage for young people who have not had many opportunities to stand on a big stage, so that they have the opportunity to develop their talents, have more places to learn and work, and the audience can enjoy good plays,” Tuan Dat shared.

The debut performance of We, in addition to receiving the full support and assistance of the female director, Meritorious Artist Hoa Ha and composer Hoang Song Viet, also had the enthusiastic response and participation of many famous artists, such as: Meritorious Artist Bao Tri, Ngoc Doi, artist Nguyen Minh Truong (Chuong Vang Vong Co 2014)... and especially the young cast: Khanh Du, Ly Trung Cuong, Trong Hieu, Bien Thuy, Pham Vu Thanh, Thanh Thuan, Hoang Chuong...

Director - Meritorious Artist Hoa Ha confided: “The young artists participating in the play Ganh co song Han have all pursued the art of cai luong for many years, but due to circumstances and life, they had to leave the stage. Now, when they have the opportunity to return to the profession they are passionate about and love, they have devoted their efforts and spent more time on the stage to create good works. When they make efforts and try, I am sure they will succeed.”

Also participating in Ganh co song Han is Meritorious Artist Bao Tri, a veteran, versatile, and talented male artist of the city's stage. He said: "When invited to participate in a stage project for young people, I am very happy to collaborate with young actors, to be able to contribute a little bit, to support them to have the opportunity to shine. I also hope that the young actors will inspire the young audience, so that they can understand and love cai luong art more, thereby contributing to preserving the national cultural identity".

Help the young generation to be strong and inherit

Over the years, artist Nguyen Minh Truong (Chuong Vang Vong Co 2014) has affirmed his talent, a good voice, with both appearance and singing and acting skills on the traditional cai luong stage. However, for many reasons, he has only stopped at secondary roles in the past. Therefore, the main role in Ganh Co Song Han is considered a ripe opportunity for the male artist to shine more, to develop his talent and singing and acting skills.

As for Meritorious Artist Ngoc Doi, participating in this classic play with young artists is very meaningful. According to her, the play not only brings a new work to the city's audience but more than that, it will contribute significantly to the training and development of young artists, the future of the city's stage, especially the cai luong stage.

“Meritorious Artist Hoa Ha is very strict and thanks to that, many generations of young artists have grown up. Working with a talented and strict female director like her is very stressful, but that is luck, a great motivation for young actors and artists on the path of honing their profession, perfecting their roles, improving their expertise and singing and acting skills,” Meritorious Artist Ngoc Doi shared.

From another perspective, these are also the concerns of playwright Hoang Song Viet: “The successor force of the cai luong stage is very important, so in the plays, I always try to give important roles to young artists, helping them have opportunities to show their talents, overcome themselves, and gradually mature.”

The Han River Grass Carry is considered a play that has the collaboration between famous directors, artists, and professional managers to create a new artistic environment for young artists to demonstrate their abilities.

Currently, not only We but also many cai luong stages are focusing on nurturing and developing new, young faces with good looks and promising voices... All are aiming at the expectation that this will be the next generation, a strong continuation of cai luong stages in the development process along with other cultural and artistic fields in contemporary social life.
