“Flip Side 8: Sunny Bracelet” revolves around Tam (Doan The Vinh) - a 17-year-old boy passionate about music in the sunny Central region, but his artistic dreams are held back by the strict expectations and traditional views of his father - Mr. Phuoc (Long Dep Trai).
The story of Tam and his father resonates with many viewers, because surely everyone has at least once experienced moments of conflict with their parents or children, felt oppressed or not understood. But, after all, they are willing to sit down to talk and heal the wounds.
Like during a cinetour (film crew exchange) in Rach Gia, Kien Giang - a male audience member confessed to "finding himself in every frame of the film".
“I am the successor of my father’s bakery business of nearly 30 years, but because I was not passionate about it, my father and I argued a lot at first. After watching “Lat mat 8”, I felt very emotional when I put myself in the main character’s situation. Now that I think about it, I think I need to talk to my father more.”

In fact, this is also Ly Hai's great wish when continuing to pursue the family theme in the 8th film.
Previously, sharing with Vietnam Law Newspaper, the 56-year-old director said that he wanted to bring healing stories (warm, humane content, soothing the soul) amidst the overwhelming negative and conflicting information out there:
“If everyone does negative things, who will do positive things? That is the answer I gave myself when I decided to choose a “difficult” topic like a family film for young people. This is also the way I challenge myself as a filmmaker.
Usually when I start a project, I sit for a long time to evaluate the market. Seeing that the Vietnamese market has had many ghost and horror films recently, I definitely won’t do it to avoid duplication. I have my own thoughts and directions.”
In his work, Ly Hai also emphasizes that adults should be friends with their children. In his own family, he also turns it into a place where parents and children are like friends. However, the male director admits that this is not something that can be done easily, so he always reminds himself to be patient, listen, and explain to his children.

In addition, in “Flip Side 8”, Ly Hai also sends a message to the younger generation: talent, dreams, ambitions and even hardships and challenges are all part of the journey to maturity. However, for him, “success comes from perseverance and believing in yourself”, because in reality, from the time he started his career as a singer to becoming a famous director, he has experienced enough challenges.
“I am very lucky to have been an artist for more than 30 years and have always been loved and trusted by everyone. That is why I always appreciate everyone's comments. Each sharing is a motivation for me and my team to continue to improve on the road ahead,” he said.
