Quang Nam: Official information about the explosion at the magnet factory

Accordingly, an explosion occurred at the paint room of SGI Vina Co., Ltd. at 9:26 a.m. on May 21, 2025, with 12 workers affected by the incident. Immediately after the incident, SGI Vina Company took the workers to Quang Nam Central General Hospital for health check-ups.

Of the 12 affected people, eight workers have been discharged from the hospital after being monitored for stable health. Two workers are still being treated at Quang Nam Central General Hospital, one case has been transferred to Da Nang General Hospital, and one case is being planned to be transferred to a hospital in Hanoi for special care.

Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Tran Nam Hung visited the hospital, encouraged and supported 5 million VND for each seriously injured worker and 2 million VND for those with minor injuries. Provincial leaders requested SGI Vina Company to ensure policies to care for workers and enhance labor safety to avoid recurrence of the incident.

SGI Vina Company said: "The exact cause of the above incident has not been determined. Currently, we are working with the management company in Korea, the factory's equipment suppliers and local authorities to inspect the scene, determine and clarify the cause of the incident." SGI Vina Company said it will accompany the families in the treatment process of the workers affected by the explosion.
