Hanoi National University of Education Aptitude Test: Candidates overwhelmingly register for math and literature

According to the organizing committee, this year's exam has more than 17,000 candidates registered to take more than 54,000 exams in 8 subjects: math, literature, English, physics, history, geography, chemistry, biology. On average, each candidate registered for 3.1 exams.

Of these, more than 13,000 students registered for math, nearly 12,000 students took literature - an overwhelming ratio compared to other subjects, followed by English, physics...

The 2025 Hanoi National University of Education Competency Assessment Test (SPT) is held at 20 testing locations at 7 universities across the country, including: Hanoi National University of Education, University of Commerce, Academy of Journalism and Communication, University of Industry, Vinh University, Quy Nhon University, University of Education - University of Da Nang.

Currently, there are 25 universities that recognize and use the SPT exam results for regular university admission.

This year's exam will be held over two days, May 17-18; math and literature will be tested in 90 minutes; the remaining subjects will be tested in 60 minutes.

Candidates can register for exams in the following subjects: math, literature, English, physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography and use the exam results to apply for admission to regular university training programs according to the requirements of each university.

The content of the exams corresponds to the content of high school subjects and exams; in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program and the teaching, testing and assessment orientation of the Ministry of Education and Training .

The test combines multiple-choice and essay questions with appropriate scoring scales according to the structure of each test; assessing the level of understanding of core knowledge and the ability to reason, analyze, evaluate, solve problems and be creative. Candidates take the test directly in the examination room, answering questions by filling in the multiple-choice answer sheet and writing on the test paper.

2025 is the fourth year that Hanoi National University of Education organizes an exam to assess high school students' abilities.

From 2026, the SPT exam is expected to add the subjects of Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, and Technology.

The school plans to announce the SPT exam scores before June 15 and will upload the exam score data to the Ministry of Education and Training's General Admission Support System so that other higher education institutions can connect the data for admission consideration.
