At the meeting, Mr. Ako Kazuoki said: Katsuragi City was once called Yamato - the ancient capital of Japan with a long history and culture. This place used to be the end point of the Silk Road. Katsuragi City has the most UNESCO-recognized heritages in Japan. Nara is also the cradle of the traditional martial art of Sumo with a history of more than 1,700 years.

At the meeting, Mr. Ako Kazuoki Makoto and the delegation were able to watch traditional wrestling matches of Sinh village.

This is also an opportunity to introduce and promote the unique traditional cultural quintessence of the locality to international friends, contributing to promoting the friendly exchange between Vietnam and Japan.

Previously, the two sides signed this Memorandum of Understanding on June 4, 2025 in Hue City on the occasion of the Governor of Nara Prefecture's official visit to Hue City and attendance at the 14th East Asia Regional and Local Government Conference.

The purpose of the memorandum is to expand and effectively develop the friendly relationship between Hue City and Nara Prefecture in enhancing cooperation in many fields beyond the framework of the conference mechanism that the two localities attend; seek support from foreign partners in implementing local socio -economic development goals; contribute to strengthening the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general, between Hue City and Japanese local governments in particular.
