| Two major floods caused heavy damage to infrastructure and agricultural production. |
According to the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, these two special floods have caused heavy damage to the agricultural sector. Initial statistics show that nearly 5,300 livestock and poultry were swept away; 279 hectares of vegetables were flooded, 255 hectares of fruit trees were flooded, 4.8 hectares of rice fields were buried, 42 hectares of cassava were damaged, 67,000 pots of ornamental plants... Particularly in the aquaculture sector, the damage to farmed fish was more than 44.6 tons and over 34,000 fish fry... Some localities were heavily affected such as Quang Dien commune, Dan Dien, Phong Dinh ward, Hoa Chau...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong (in Ru Hop residential group, Phong Dinh ward), an agricultural producer who suffered losses in the flood, lamented: This is a flood as big as the historic flood in 1999, causing heavy losses to us farmers. All of our family's investments in agricultural production, including pigs, chickens, ducks and several acres of crops, were all taken away by the flood. We hope the State will have policies to support farmers in this difficult time.
Mr. Hoang Cong Tan (in Phong Thai ward), owner of a large-scale livestock farm, said that after floods, the risk of disease outbreaks in livestock is very high, and people really need support with vaccines and chemicals to prevent disease and restore the herd. Because, before restoring the herd, it is necessary to thoroughly disinfect, treat the environment safely, and supplement nutrition to increase the resistance of livestock.

To rehabilitate the fields after the flood and restore production, the functional sectors, local authorities and people in the receding areas urgently drained the water thoroughly, cleaned up mud, trash and crop residues. At the same time, they guided farmers to take care of crops that can recover, prevent pests and diseases and prepare to plant short-term crops to restore production soon.
In vegetable growing areas, the agricultural sector recommends that farmers, after the water recedes, quickly clear drainage ditches, clean fields and gardens, add organic fertilizers, spray foliar fertilizers and biological products to help plants recover quickly. At the same time, coordinate with localities to fully prepare short-term crop varieties and cold-loving vegetable varieties to be ready for planting as soon as conditions permit.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong, Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, added that the unit also recommends that localities, after restoring production, should arrange a suitable crop calendar for each region, and spread out crops to avoid risks due to adverse weather and ensure a balance of supply and demand in the market at the end of the year.Source: https://huengaynay.vn/kinh-te/nong-nghiep-nong-thon/thiet-hai-nang-ne-nganh-nong-nghiep-can-ho-tro-khan-cap-cay-con-giong-159371.html
