The population of flat-leafed pine trees recognized as Vietnam Heritage Trees is 700 to 1,000 years old and 35 to 40 meters tall. This is considered the largest population of flat-leafed pine trees in Vietnam and in the world .

According to Mr. Ton Thien An, Deputy Director of Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park, the flat-leaf pine is a masterpiece of creation, a priceless treasure that nature has bestowed upon the majestic Langbiang land. For local ethnic minorities, this tree has a profound spiritual meaning, is closely associated with the cultural life of the community and is considered a sacred tree, no one dares to encroach.
The flat-leafed pine, scientifically known as Pinus krempfii, is a rare and endemic plant species that only grows on the Langbiang plateau. The world's leading botanists consider them "messengers from prehistoric times".

According to the French botanist Chevalier, the pinus is the only surviving species of the ancient genus. American scientists such as Krisphind and Litenle consider the pinus a "living fossil" of the Tertiary period, whose relatives are known only from fossil specimens.
