According to Mr. Dinh Trung Thanh, Director of Road Management Area I, during the night of December 14th and the early morning of December 15th, Road Management Area I and Road Construction Joint Stock Company 222 mobilized three excavators to continuously dig at Km124+300 on National Highway 6 in Mai Chau commune, Phu Tho province, to search for victims buried in the landslide that occurred at 2:38 PM on December 14th.
At 3:10 AM on December 15th, rescue forces located the last victim, and at 3:45 AM, they successfully brought the victim out.
Reportedly, the sudden landslide buried two workers who were carrying out routine maintenance for Company 222 and one person riding a motorbike past the site.
Mr. Dinh Trung Thanh, Director of Road Management Area I, said that after the rescue operation is completed, the landslide site will be cleared and traffic will be reopened on the main route.
As of 5:36 AM, traffic on National Highway 6, specifically the section passing through the landslide area, had returned to normal under the direction of the authorities.
Earlier, at approximately 2:37 PM, a landslide occurred at Km124+300 on National Highway 6 in Mai Chau commune, Phu Tho province. The estimated volume of soil and rocks was about 1000 cubic meters. This resulted in a complete road blockage and three people being buried.
Immediately after the incident, Road Management Area I, together with Road Construction Joint Stock Company 222, deployed machinery and personnel to build a temporary road and coordinated with local authorities and relevant functional forces to reroute traffic, issue warnings, conduct regular maintenance, and carry out rescue operations.
