Mr. Vo Van Tan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thot Not District, commented: "Since the beginning of the year, the People's Committee of Thot Not District has focused on directing and implementing quite well the political tasks and key activities, especially the work of focusing on directing and promptly implementing the documents of the Central and the city on the socio-economic development plan, streamlining the administrative apparatus... Thanks to that, the socio-economic situation in the area has developed stably. The fields of industry - construction, trade - services, urban development... have achieved and exceeded the set plan, receiving high support from the people...".

According to the People's Committee of Thot Not district, the industrial and construction sector's performance in May 2025 continued to grow compared to the same period in 2024. Enterprises stepped up production to complete contracts signed in the first quarter of 2025. Seafood exports continued to recover positively in the markets of China, Japan, Korea, the EU and Asia; enterprises had new orders, especially frozen pangasius fillets. Rice exports are currently facing difficulties in the market due to the decrease in rice import demand from other countries, and the export price of rice has also decreased by an average of 15-30% compared to the same period in 2024; rice exporting enterprises have not signed many new export contracts...

However, with the support and facilitation of businesses and establishments operating in the industrial and construction sector to develop from the sectors and levels of Thot Not district, the district's industrial and construction production value increased compared to the same period. In May 2025, it is estimated that 4,601.83 billion VND was achieved, reaching 8.29% of the plan; bringing the district's industrial and construction production value to 23,258.83 billion VND, reaching 41.94% of the yearly plan and increasing by 13.73% over the same period in 2024. During the month, Thot Not developed 3 new production establishments, bringing the number of industrial and construction production establishments in the district to 1,071 establishments (including 189 enterprises), attracting 16,809 workers.

In particular, the rice milling and processing industry had a milling output in May of over 110,000 tons, bringing the total milling output to date to an estimated 623,000 tons, an increase of 11.6% over the same period in 2024. The rice polishing industry alone in May is estimated to reach 120,000 tons, bringing the total rice polishing output to date to an estimated 817,000 tons, an increase of 13.4% over the same period in 2024. The seafood processing industry with a total output of frozen raw fish in May of over 17,000 tons, bringing the total output of frozen raw fish to date to an estimated 92,100 tons, an increase of 6.7% over the same period in 2024... In addition, the district also has developing small-scale handicraft industries, such as mechanics, welding, carpentry and interior decoration, small-scale handicraft villages (including rice paper and weaving villages). net), vermicelli production, tofu, bread, traditional brick production... These are small-scale handicraft industries that have contributed a lot to the overall development and growth of the industry - construction sector of the whole district.

Regarding the trade and service sector in the area, in May, Thot Not district achieved an estimated value of VND 2,517.49 billion; increasing the value of trade and service production to date to VND 12,794.56 billion, reaching 42.09% of the plan, up 21.11% over the same period in 2024. Since the beginning of the year, trade and service activities have continued to take place vigorously, serving well the consumption needs, the supply and circulation of goods has grown more than the same period in 2024... During the month, the district has newly issued 52 certificates of registration of trade and service business households, bringing the total number of trade and service establishments to 9,955 households (including 333 enterprises), attracting about 15,882 workers. In addition, the locality has also strengthened the inspection of market and price stabilization for essential goods to serve the needs of local people. Thereby, the number of establishments inspected in May was 10 establishments and enterprises; bringing the number of establishments inspected to date to 42 establishments and enterprises. As a result, the inspection team discovered and proposed the District People's Committee to sanction a total of 7 violations (including 3 violations of product labels and 4 violations of price listing).

Thot Not District People's Committee, directed: In the coming time, all levels and functional branches will continue to grasp the situation, advise on creating favorable conditions to promote the development of industrial production activities; regularly coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and other departments and branches of the city to support and remove difficulties for enterprises in the process of operation; promptly implement the city's directives to support enterprises in the process of production and business. Coordinate the implementation of Directive No. 03/CT-UBND dated January 21, 2025 of Can Tho City People's Committee on supporting and facilitating export and import activities in Can Tho City; promote trade promotion activities, survey and consider the organization of trade fairs and exhibitions proposed by Vuong Quoc Fair Organization Company Limited at the District Culture - Sports and Broadcasting Center in accordance with regulations. Effectively deploy inter-sectoral inspection work according to Plan No. 52/KH-DKTLN dated March 25, 2025 of the District Inter-sectoral Inspection Team to carry out propaganda and inspection work on production and business activities; private medical practice; market stabilization; combating trade fraud and counterfeit goods. In particular, support the electricity sector in the district to repair, renovate and invest in developing the power grid system in 2025 according to the capital allocation plan of Can Tho City Electricity Company; deploy procedures and instructions on rooftop solar power installation according to regulations, in order to contribute to the development of green production, environmental protection, and climate change response in the area...
