Recall of health food containing banned substance Sibutramine

(Chinhphu.vn) - The Department of Food Safety, Ministry of Health requested localities to recall two health food samples "Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold" and "Best Slim Collagen" which were recently discovered to contain the banned substance Sibutramine.

According to the Food Safety Department, the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene's report on the results of testing monitoring samples found that these two foods contained the banned substance Sibutramine.

Specifically, the health protection food Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold (batch number 11 2023, production date 11/1/2023, expiry date 11/1/2026). The importer, distributor and responsible for the quality of the goods is EU YB Joint Stock Company, address: Group 20, Minh Tan Ward, Yen Bai City. The label of this product states that it is manufactured at Austin Biologic & Technology Limited Austin Road West Level 206, International Commerce Center, Hong Kong.

Health protection food Best Slim Collagen (batch number 29L367, expiry date January 2027). The importer, distributor and responsible for the quality of the goods is Hoa Anh Dao Medical Equipment Company Limited, address: Hamlet 4, Hai Boi village, Hai Boi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi.

The Food Safety Department recommends that people do not buy, use, or trade the two batches of health protection foods above and requests that localities recall and handle violations according to regulations.

On e-commerce platforms and social networks, the product Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold is introduced as a health food that supports safe weight loss, helps burn excess fat and reduces cravings. The price ranges from 400,000 to 550,000 VND/box of 30 pills.

The product label states that it is made in the USA and manufactured by: Arnet Pharmaceutical, 2525 Davie Road, Bldg 330. Davied, Florida 33317.

Best Slim Collagen product is also advertised as a weight loss aid, priced from 650,000 VND to 850,000 VND/box of 40 tablets.

Sibutramine is a banned substance used in food production and trading. This substance has a very high risk of toxicity, the molecular structure of Sibutramine is similar to the drug Amphetamine.

Medical facilities have also recorded many cases of poisoning from health food supplements containing Sibutramine. Some patients have suffered from coma, convulsions, brain damage...
