Peach blossom capital is bustling in leaf stripping season

Báo Tuổi TrẻBáo Tuổi Trẻ20/12/2024

These days, people in the five-petal peach blossom capital of Luu Vinh Son commune (Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh ) are busy entering the leaf stripping season so that the peach blossoms will bloom in time for Tet.

Escape poverty by growing peach blossoms

Mr. Tran Ba Hoanh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Luu Vinh Son Commune - said that the peach growing profession in the locality has been around for about 30 years. Currently, the whole commune has 600 households growing peaches on an area of 112 hectares, of which about 300 households grow peaches in large quantities. This year, it is expected that about 70% of the peach area will be old enough to supply the market.

Previously, when people had not planted peach trees, the above land area was mainly used to grow tea and acacia. However, after some people experimented with planting peach trees and found them profitable , the area and scale were expanded as they are today. In 2023 alone, peach growing brought in about 10 billion VND in income for local people.

According to Mr. Hoanh, peach growing not only contributes to the development of local household economy, helping many families escape poverty, but also creates jobs for people from other localities who come to work as peach leaf strippers.
