In Decision 480/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister decided that Mr. Nguyen Truong Son , Deputy Minister of Health , will retire early from April 1, 2023 and enjoy benefits and policies according to current regulations.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Son (born in 1964 in Ho Chi Minh City), is an associate professor and doctor of medicine. According to the current regulations on the new retirement age, Mr. Son will retire in 2025. In 2022, he submitted his resignation 3 times even though he was not yet at retirement age.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Truong Son retires early
In November 2022, Mr. Son temporarily took a leave of absence from the Ministry of Health for surgery and treatment. After a period of treatment at Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC), Associate Professor Nguyen Truong Son's health is now stable.
Before holding the position of Deputy Minister of Health, Mr. Son worked for many years at Cho Ray Hospital. He also spent 14 years as the director of this hospital. During the COVID-19 outbreak, he was the head of the Ministry of Health's standing anti-epidemic unit three times at the three hottest epidemic spots: Da Nang, Bac Giang and Ho Chi Minh City, playing an important role in suppressing the epidemic at these three hotspots.
After Mr. Son retired, the Ministry of Health had Minister Dao Hong Lan and four deputy ministers: Do Xuan Tuyen, Tran Van Thuan, Nguyen Thi Lien Huong and Le Duc Luan.
