Prime Minister sends letter praising 4 heroes who broke down wall to save people from motel fire

The Prime Minister 's letter said: The fire that occurred on Trung Kinh Street, Trung Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District recently was an especially serious, heartbreaking and extremely regrettable incident.

The Prime Minister was very moved to learn that Pham Quoc Luat, Nguyen Kim Long, Hoang Anh Tuan, and Dong Van Tuan were brave, not afraid of difficulties and dangers, using ladders to climb to high floors and using sledgehammers to break down walls in time to rescue the victims of the fire.

On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the wise and courageous actions of these men. This is a shining example of the bravery, chivalry and love of the Vietnamese people; demonstrating the noble gesture and humane tradition of our nation, as the folk song says: "Although building nine levels of a stupa, it is not as good as saving one person."

We propose that the Ministry of Public Security , Hanoi City People's Committee and relevant agencies have appropriate and worthy policies, regimes and forms of commendation and rewards for citizens who have made outstanding achievements in saving people in the above fire.

The Prime Minister called on every citizen to actively enhance their initiative in ensuring fire prevention, fighting, and rescue, and to calmly handle and help each other when incidents occur.

At the same time, the Ministry of Public Security is requested to coordinate with ministries, branches and local authorities to strictly implement legal regulations on fire and explosion prevention and control; focus on building and developing mass movements and replicating models of ensuring fire and explosion prevention and control safety in the direction of voluntariness, self-prevention and self-management.

Have timely and appropriate reward and encouragement policies; encourage and motivate people to participate, minimize fire and explosion incidents; build a safe and healthy society, for the peaceful and happy life of the people.

Previously, at around 0:46 on May 24, a fire broke out at a boarding house at No. 1, Lane 43/98/31, Trung Kinh Street, Trung Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi, causing particularly serious consequences, killing 14 people and injuring many others.

Immediately afterwards, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Official Dispatch No. 52/CD-TTg directing to focus on overcoming the consequences and urgently investigating the cause of the fire.

The Prime Minister requested the Hanoi People's Committee to direct the organization of thoughtful visits, timely encouragement, and material and spiritual support to the victims' families; closely coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to direct functional forces to focus on overcoming the consequences, promptly investigate the cause of the fire, clarify the responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals; strictly handle violations (if any) according to the provisions of law.

Review the legal regulations and conditions on fire prevention and fighting related to business and rental of accommodation, report to the Prime Minister before July 30, 2024; inspect, classify, and immediately have solutions on fire prevention and fighting for rental housing, and strictly handle violations according to the provisions of law.
