Prime Minister encourages artists, athletes, experts to organize summer activities for students

Regarding the content of organizing summer activities, organizing summer activities in 2025, in Official Dispatch No. 61/CD-TTg sent to ministries, branches and localities, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Education and Training to direct and guide localities and educational institutions to implement management and education measures and strengthen coordination between schools and families to create conditions for children and students to have fun, participate in cultural and artistic activities, physical training, practice life skills during the summer, and manage children and students to prevent accidents, injuries and drowning.

The Prime Minister requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to direct and guide relevant agencies and organizations, closely coordinate with the Youth Union and mass organizations to create an environment for children to have healthy entertainment; practice life skills, participate in foreign language, cultural, artistic, sports and physical development activities.

Notably, the Prime Minister requested that the People's Committees of provinces and cities mobilize and encourage artists, artisans, athletes, and experts to organize cultural, artistic, and sports activities, develop talents; build a suitable environment for learning and using foreign languages ​​in the community, and healthy recreational and entertainment activities, attracting children, students, and university students to participate, contributing to educating ethics, lifestyle, behavioral culture, life skills, and improving the effectiveness of comprehensive education.

In the telegram, the Prime Minister also requested the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of Young Pioneers to proactively propose and coordinate the implementation of propaganda and education on culture, arts, physical education, sports, life skills, prevention of drowning accidents and injuries, and safe swimming lessons for children and students in schools and in residential communities.

Art teachers' summer clubs invite artists to join

Usually in the summer, in order to create conditions for students to have fun and study, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, an art teacher at Tan Binh Secondary School, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City, established an art club to train students who are passionate about art and have talent, and to encourage other students to participate in activities to strengthen their art skills. In particular, the topics of the art club's activities are all related to the social culture of the nation.

"In the process of researching the topic and to create excitement, the Club will try to invite experts from each related field to exchange and share so that the students can better understand the topic as well as the performance form. For example, with the topic of folk music, reformed opera..., the Club will directly invite artists to discuss specifically about the subject, or create conditions for the students to visit museums or exhibitions on the topic. Through that, the summer clubs can both train artistic skills and educate Vietnamese cultural ideology, strengthen national spirit and patriotism for the students", Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh shared.

Diversify summer activities so that students have an environment to use foreign languages.

Master of Communications Vinh San (DOL English) said that the Prime Minister's direction on the contents related to organizing summer activities in 2025 for children and students is completely correct. From the perspective of someone working in the education sector, Mr. Vinh San said that it is very urgent this summer for localities to mobilize and encourage artists, artisans, athletes, and experts to organize cultural, artistic, and sports activities, develop talents; build a suitable environment for learning and using foreign languages ​​in the community... for children and students as stated in the Prime Minister's telegram.

"The earlier the environment is for using foreign languages ​​in the community, the more confident students will be in using foreign languages, and the more opportunities they will have for employment or studying abroad. When children have the opportunity to learn foreign languages ​​early, and learn in a fun way, they will absorb them faster...", said Master Vinh San.

According to Master Vinh San, we can organize foreign language classes and clubs this summer. One way to help improve children's foreign language skills and critical thinking is to let children read books, then let them share their opinions on what they agree or disagree with in the book. Many people think that the knowledge in books is the truth, books are always correct. But in fact, we should teach children to be critical. There are details that are correct in the context of that day, but not necessarily correct in the context of today. So don't be afraid to share your perspective.

Learning a foreign language (for example English) in a thinking way not only helps children improve their listening and speaking skills, but also develops critical thinking skills - an important skill in today's era of artificial intelligence (AI). And listening - here is not just "hear" - listening in a physical way, but "listen" - listening and understanding, empathizing, feeling, sharing opinions.

"Children like a learning environment, fun, exciting activities, where they can exchange, be encouraged to debate, be rewarded, and motivated, even if it's just candy or points. Therefore, summer clubs and summer activities for children to communicate and use foreign languages ​​need to be fun so that they are excited. Most importantly, teachers, group leaders, and club organizers must help children exchange, learn how to listen, to understand, to argue, and to bring up a new perspective. Not to argue to prove who is right and who is wrong, to overwhelm one's ego," shared Master Vinh San.
