Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets with Speaker of Singaporean Parliament

Within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Singapore, on the afternoon of February 9 at the Singapore Parliament House, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with Speaker of the Singapore Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin.

National Assembly Chairman Tan Chuan-Jin welcomed and assessed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit as important, opening activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership between the two countries; contributing to further deepening the cooperative relationship between the two countries.

The Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament respectfully conveyed his regards to the Vietnamese high-ranking leaders; recalled the good impressions during his visit to Vietnam in May 2022, especially the success of the 31st Sea Games; expressed his deep impression of Vietnam's socio-economic development and believed that Vietnam is one of the driving forces of growth in the region.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed warm regards from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to National Assembly Chairman Tan Chuan-Jin; highly appreciated Singapore's strong development achievements and believed that Singapore will soon successfully implement the "Green Plan 2030" goal.

The two leaders expressed their delight at the rapid and extensive developments in bilateral relations; affirmed that they always attach importance to and wish for the Vietnam-Singapore relationship to become increasingly close, trustworthy, substantive and effective.

The two sides also highly appreciated the good development of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries; agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation, share experiences in institution building, perfect the legal system, contributing to enhancing understanding and people-to-people exchange between the two countries, especially between the young generation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that Singapore will continue to support Vietnam in areas where Singapore has strengths such as digital economy, digital transformation, innovation, startups, technology incubator development, education and training; and propose creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community working, living and studying in Singapore.

The Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament highly appreciated the determination and vision of the Vietnamese leaders in the process of developing the country and promoting the implementation of new fields such as clean energy and sustainable development; affirmed that the Singaporean Parliament will certainly support the initiatives and agreements that the two governments are implementing in all fields.

The two leaders discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern. The Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament said that Vietnam plays a very important role in maintaining solidarity and promoting the central role of ASEAN; agreed that the legislative bodies of the two countries will continue to cooperate closely at the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) and other parliamentary organizations; contributing to maintaining ASEAN solidarity and a common stance within ASEAN on strategic issues related to peace and stability in the region, including the East Sea issue.

At the end of the meeting, in a friendly atmosphere, the Chairman of the Singaporean Parliament invited and directly introduced Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit the main meeting room of the National Assembly.
