Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong meet students of Vietnam National University, Hanoi

During the official visit to Vietnam of Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, on the morning of August 29, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and their spouses met with outstanding students of Hanoi National University.

At the meeting, students of Hanoi National University expressed their interest and were informed by the two Prime Ministers about Singapore's education, science, technology and innovation policies; the digital economic - green economic partnership between the two countries; policies to promote cooperation between Singaporean and Vietnamese universities, especially in some areas of research, innovation and artificial intelligence.

Students also hope that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will share his experiences and valuable lessons on his path of studying and training to succeed; the expectations of leaders for the younger generation...

Sharing and answering the concerns of students, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong expressed his joy and confidence in the bright future of students of Hanoi National University in particular and Vietnamese students in general.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that Singapore has an education system that meets international standards. The government has a dedicated fund for developing scientific research, innovation and mobilizing more private resources to invest in this field. Singapore is always open to citizens and businesses from other countries, including Vietnam, to start businesses.

Singapore is persistent in educating, promoting and having policies to protect the living environment. Currently, Singapore is implementing solutions towards reducing net emissions to zero by 2050 like Vietnam. To do this, each citizen must have great responsibility and effort. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong hopes that students of Hanoi National University and the young generation of Vietnam will join hands to make the world a better place.

In response to students' questions about the content of the "Vietnam - Singapore Digital Economy - Green Economy Partnership", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that after 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and 10 years of Strategic Partnership, the Vietnam - Singapore relationship has been developing well.

Developing green economy, digital economy, circular economy, sharing economy… are global issues and trends. In early 2023, during the Prime Minister’s official visit to Singapore, a memorandum of understanding was signed to establish the “Vietnam – Singapore Digital Economy - Green Economy Partnership”.

Participating in this cooperation mechanism, in the field of digital transformation, the two countries will cooperate and support each other in developing technology infrastructure, building databases, management experience, training human resources, information network security and safety..., towards digital government, digital citizens, digital society. In green development, the two sides will cooperate, support, and share with each other technology, finance, human resources, management science, institution building... to serve green transformation, especially the transformation and development of wind energy, solar energy...

Responding to students’ concerns about the future of the younger generation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said, “Our country has never had the foundation, potential, position and international prestige it has today” thanks to the sacrifices, building and nurturing of previous generations. The task of the current and future younger generations is to inherit and promote the achievements left by their ancestors, to build the country to become stronger and more prosperous, and the people to become happier and more prosperous.

Students must practice, maintain moral qualities, improve knowledge, maintain passion and enthusiasm, try to study well, be responsible for the Fatherland and the people; at the same time join hands to build a peaceful, friendly and developed world, including fostering the increasingly developing Vietnam - Singapore relationship.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, and Nanyang Technological University (NTU - Singapore) in the fields of exchange of staff, lecturers, students, and scientific research.

At noon on the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and their two wives had an intimate lunch with students of Hanoi National University at the canteen of the University of Foreign Languages.

Here, the two Prime Ministers enjoyed famous traditional Vietnamese dishes such as banh cuon cha, bun thang, nem Ha Noi, com... During the meal, the heads of the two governments and the students had intimate and interesting exchanges.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and students of Hanoi National University introduced to Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong the beauty of Vietnamese cuisine and cultural values through dishes.
