Within the framework of the expanded G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, on the morning of May 21, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Itsukaichi Port. This was a surprise program outside the Prime Minister's work schedule.

Leaders of the Japanese Ministry of Economy , Trade and Industry introduced to the Prime Minister and delegates of the Vietnamese delegation important information about the world's first liquefied hydrogen transport ship "Suiso Frontier".

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation visited Itsukaichi port in Hiroshima, Japan.

This person said that Japan is making efforts to put into use hydrogen energy - a decarbonized energy, towards the transition to green energy.

Hydrogen is a clean energy that can be extracted from various substances, does not emit CO2 during combustion and is expected to be a breakthrough of carbon. In recent years, the world's energy industry, many countries have invested heavily in hydrogen, including the US and Europe.

At this G7 Energy Ministers Meeting, Hydrogen became a major agenda item and delegates agreed to accelerate the transformation of the Hydrogen Association. In 2017, Japan launched a basic hydrogen strategy and is leading the world in this field.

In particular, to form a hydrogen market on a global scale, Japan believes that there needs to be a technology that allows large-scale transportation of hydrogen from producing countries to countries with high energy demand, and the Land of the Rising Sun has succeeded in this. The Suiso Frontier is a testament to this with its complex pipelines and advanced technology.

Before boarding the ship, Mr. Kanehana Yoshinori from Kawasaki Heavy Industries Corporation (the company that built the Suiso Frontier) explained some information about the ship.

According to Mr. Kanehana Yoshinori, hydrogen is an indispensable clean energy for a decarbonized society. For hydrogen to be used in the world, it is necessary to have "transportation" technology to process hydrogen over long and large distances. In particular, for Japan, transporting liquefied hydrogen is a very important part.

He said that Vietnam not only uses green hydrogen in domestic power generation projects but also plans to export clean hydrogen to nearby Southeast Asian countries. Therefore, liquefied hydrogen carriers will be one of the effective means of transporting hydrogen.
