In an interview with a VNA reporter in Western Europe, Vietnamese Ambassador to Spain Doan Thanh Song said this was the first time a Spanish Prime Minister had officially visited Vietnam since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1977 and also the first official visit to Vietnam by a senior Spanish state leader since the visit by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia in 2006.
The visit is a vivid demonstration of the good cooperation results between the two countries in recent times, from politics to economics, trade, investment, culture, defense, security, education-training and transportation...
The visit takes place at a very meaningful time, right after the two countries celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership in 2024 and ahead of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027.
Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam Carmen Cano De Lasala said that Spain was the first member state of the European Union to sign a Strategic Partnership with Vietnam in 2009. It was also among the first to ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement. This clearly demonstrates the desire for close cooperation between the two countries to exploit the full untapped potential in bilateral relations.
"During our Prime Minister's visit, agreements will be signed in areas such as investment, agriculture, political consultation, culture and sports, as well as cooperation between the diplomatic academies of the two countries. We are committed to making efforts to bring bilateral relations to a new level," the Ambassador said./.
