Speeding up construction of Highway 722, determined to reach the finish line by 2025

The DT.722 road project connecting Lam Dong with Dak Lak is considered a key traffic project, contributing to completing the infrastructure of the Central Highlands region.

Overcoming difficulties in terms of space

DT.722 route is deployed in Dam Rong 4 commune, belonging to group B project, invested by Lam Dong Province Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1. The level IV traffic project has a total investment of 600 billion VND, from the central budget and provincial budget, implemented in the period of 2021 - 2025. This is an important connecting route between Lam Dong and Dak Lak, contributing to the completion of inter-regional traffic infrastructure, expanding economic development opportunities, tourism and trade in the Central Highlands region.

Immediately after approval, the Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1 urgently coordinated with localities to implement compensation, support and site clearance. In Lac Duong district (old), compensation payments have been completed in 2 phases, with a total cost of more than 14.2 billion VND, handing over about 2km of site to the construction unit. In Dam Rong district (old), by the end of 2023, compensation payments to 39 households have also been completed with a total cost of more than 1.5 billion VND, handing over 1.8km of site.

The biggest difficulty of the project is the procedure for converting the purpose of forest land use, which must go through many levels of appraisal, thus prolonging the implementation time. By May 2025, the forest owners will have completed the exploitation of forest products and handed over the entire site to the construction unit. Along with that, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has approved the environmental impact assessment report in Decision No. 3178/QD-BTNMT dated October 2, 2024. Thanks to that, the entire project site is now ready, creating favorable conditions to speed up the construction progress.

Construction unit breaks rocks to open construction road

According to the assessment of the Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1, although the progress of the first phase was affected by site clearance and prolonged rainy weather, after completing the forest land procedures, the contractor mobilized maximum human resources, equipment and materials to speed up. Up to now, the total construction volume has reached 56.79% of the contract value, equivalent to more than 300 billion VND.

The terrain often experiences serious landslides, making construction difficult.

Up to now, the first and last two sections (Km0 – Km1+900 and Km17 – Km18+886) have been paved with asphalt concrete, and the bridges at Km7 and Km9 have been basically completed. The sections that have just been handed over are undergoing simultaneous construction of items such as roadbed, crushed stone foundation, drainage ditches, retaining walls and slope reinforcement to prevent landslides, ensuring the progress and quality of the project.

Highlights in key projects

In addition to ensuring construction progress, DT.722 route is also considered one of the few key projects of Lam Dong province that ensures investment capital disbursement progress.

In 2025, the project was allocated 281,983 billion VND; of which the central budget capital is 191,983 billion VND, the provincial budget capital is 90 billion VND. Up to now, the project has disbursed 79.3 billion VND, reaching 28.12% of the plan, and is expected to disburse all central capital by the end of 2025; at the same time, disbursement of most local capital will be completed. The remaining capital will be transferred to the first quarter of 2026 to complete the entire project, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and overall progress.

Currently, Thanh Dat Joint Stock Company - the construction unit is maintaining a permanent force of more than 100 workers and more than 50 specialized equipment and machines at the construction site. The construction items are organized according to the "rolling" principle, construction and acceptance of each part at the same time, ensuring quality and disbursement efficiency in each stage.

On the other hand, in many construction sections across deep ravines, the construction unit must build bridges; at the same time, fill the ground to create the road surface.

According to the commitment, by December 31, 2025, the contractor will complete the entire roadbed, longitudinal and transverse drainage systems, bridges, retaining walls, crushed stone aggregate base layer and asphalt pavement of about 12km of road surface. The remaining part will be completed in the first quarter of 2026, meeting the conditions for acceptance, handover and operation.

Every day there is still a large number of people traveling on the road under construction to enter the production areas.

The leaders of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the efforts of the investor and construction units in maintaining progress and disbursing on schedule, considering this a bright spot in the province's public investment capital management. At the same time, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee directed to continue to strengthen inspection, supervision, ensure quality, labor safety and strictly comply with environmental regulations throughout the construction process.

Along with that, people from the old Dung K'No and old Da Long communes, now part of Dam Rong 4 commune, still travel back and forth every day on the road under construction.

When completed, the DT.722 route will become a strategic traffic axis connecting the two provinces of Lam Dong and Dak Lak, shortening the time for transporting goods, expanding opportunities for trade, tourism and high-tech agriculture for the Northwest region of Lam Dong. The project not only contributes to the completion of synchronous traffic infrastructure, but also enhances regional connectivity, creating a driving force for sustainable development for the Central Highlands region in the new period.

DT.722 route is becoming one of the rare projects that both ensures progress and well disburses investment capital.

With the high determination of the investor, the close direction of the province and the sense of responsibility of the construction units, the DT.722 route is becoming a bright spot in the key infrastructure projects of Lam Dong - both ensuring progress and effectively disbursing investment capital, contributing to promoting sustainable socio-economic development of the locality.
