Based on the current situation, by the end of August 2025, the vaccination rate for some vaccines in the Expanded Immunization Program in Lam Dong province will remain low (below 60%), especially for BCG (tuberculosis), neonatal hepatitis B, and Rotavirus (for preventing acute diarrhea) vaccines. This situation poses a risk of not meeting the 2025 plan targets and increases the risk of outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases.
To quickly improve the coverage rate, the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health requested the Provincial Center for Disease Control to take the lead, in coordination with local authorities and the Health Centers of the regions and special zones, in conducting a comprehensive review of vaccination work; identifying areas with low vaccination rates, analyzing the causes, and proposing solutions to improve the coverage rate according to the set schedule.
Regional and special-zone health centers are urgently reviewing and organizing catch-up and supplementary vaccinations to ensure that no eligible individuals under the Expanded Immunization Program are missed. Vaccination must be carried out safely and in accordance with regulations, with a focus on polio vaccines in light of the World Health Organization (WHO) reporting several cases in Southeast Asia.
The health sector is also strengthening communication about the role and benefits of vaccines; coordinating with press agencies, radio, television, and the grassroots political system to encourage people to take their children for vaccinations on schedule and with the correct dosage. Directors of Health Centers are directly responsible for vaccination results in their managed areas; in cases of persistently low vaccination rates, the Department of Health will consider and handle responsibilities according to regulations.
