Ke Go Lake spills small flow, many reservoirs are about to be regulated to lower water levels

(Baohatinh.vn) - Ke Go Lake - the second largest irrigation lake in Ha Tinh is being overflowed with a flow rate of 10 m3/s to proactively respond to forecasts of heavy rain.

On the evening of October 27, Director of Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company, Tran Manh Cuong, confirmed to Ha Tinh Newspaper that Ke Go Lake is being released to regulate water through Doc Mieu spillway with a flow rate of 10m3 /second.

At this time, the lake water level is at 29.8/32.5 m, equivalent to a capacity of 270/345 million m 3 , reaching 78.26% of the design capacity. Currently, the lake area is raining.

According to Mr. Tran Manh Cuong, the spillway of Ke Go Lake started at 10:00 a.m. on October 21 to respond to heavy rain caused by the circulation of storm No. 12, cold air combined with East wind disturbances, terrain effects and East wind after the storm.

The current work is to continue regulating Ke Go Lake water through Doc Mieu spillway to lower the lake water level, increase flood prevention capacity before the forecast of Ha Tinh Hydrometeorological Station about widespread heavy rain from the evening of October 27 to the end of October 29 with a flow of 100 - 200mm, some places with very heavy rain over 300mm. In particular, there is a risk of heavy rain over 150mm in 3 hours.

Next, from the night of October 29 to October 30, the Ha Tinh area is expected to continue to have moderate to heavy rain with rainfall of 50 - 100mm, in some places very heavy rain over 150mm. This rain is forecast to last until around November 3.

In addition, to respond to forecasts of heavy rain, Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited also continues to operate spillway discharge at large reservoirs in the province, including: Boc Nguyen, Kim Son, Thuong Song Tri, Khe Xai, and Tau Voi.

The spillway discharge was carried out at 8:00 and 9:00 on October 28, with the flow rates of Boc Nguyen Lake from 5 - 70 m3 /second, Khe Xai Lake from 5 - 60 m3 /second, Tau Voi Lake from 3 - 40 m3 /second, Kim Son Lake from 5 - 90 m3 /second, and Thuong Song Tri Lake from 5 - 110 m3 /second.

Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited requested that downstream localities urgently notify, urge, and guide people to implement measures to ensure safety of life and property.
