The event was chaired from Hanoi by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Head of the National IUU Steering Committee. Also attending were representatives from ministries, branches and 22 coastal provinces and cities with fishing vessels.

On behalf of the National Steering Committee on IUU, the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment reported on the implementation of the Prime Minister's instructions at last week's meeting. Accordingly, the ministries and branches have been and are implementing the assigned tasks. Specifically, the Ministry of National Defense has completed 3/9 tasks and is implementing 6 tasks; the Ministry of Public Security has completed 6/11 tasks and is implementing 5 tasks; the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has completed 13/24 tasks, 11 tasks are being implemented; the remaining ministries are implementing the assigned tasks. As for localities, 18/18 tasks are being implemented.

As of October 27, the country had 80,273 fishing vessels, of which 80,132 were registered and updated on the national fisheries database, accounting for 99.8%, down 466 vessels compared to the previous week. In addition, the country has licensed 77,017/80,132 vessels (reaching 96.11%); 500 more vessels were deregistered. During the week, port border stations processed procedures for fishing vessels to enter and exit ports for 12,589/16,876 vessels and no more Vietnamese fishing vessels or fishermen were arrested or processed by foreign countries; 1 more case of violation of foreign waters was punished, 9 new cases/10 violators were prosecuted.
At the conference, representatives of ministries, sectors and coastal localities with fishing vessels also reported the results of handling a number of cases; problems arising in the process of sanctioning and prosecuting fishing vessel owners who violated the law; the discrepancy in the number of fishing vessels and cases handled between ministries; the legal basis for localities to prepare solid records for handling...

In Nghe An, based on the tasks assigned by the National Steering Committee, the province has completed 9/19 tasks and is implementing the remaining 10 tasks. Specifically, along with allocating enough resources to resolutely combat IUU fishing, the province has completed 100% of the work of classifying, registering, and inspecting fishing vessels; granting and renewing licenses for 100% of qualified fishing vessels; 100% of qualified fishing vessels have VMS devices installed on fishing vessels; made a list of 18 unqualified vessels for monitoring and supervision; completed upgrading information technology infrastructure at the port; ensured that 100% of registered fishing vessels have license plates and fishing vessel markings; all vessels with a length of 15 m or more participate in fishing activities and dock on eCDT at the port.

Based on reports and proposals from ministries, branches and localities, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha shared the spirit of the weekly meeting of the National Steering Committee on IUU, which should only report and review the work done and the existing problems and difficulties to be resolved.
The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the results achieved by ministries, branches and localities in recent times; at the same time, he also emphasized that this is a peak campaign, preparing to welcome the European Commission's working group to Vietnam for an inspection, so we must be more focused and determined according to the motto "clear people, clear work and clear results".
Concluding the working session, the Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to continue reviewing legal regulations on the basis of positive results that need to be transformed into propaganda and communication articles about Vietnam's participation so that people and international friends can know. He requested ministries, branches and localities to unify correct - sufficient - clean - alive data and reporting forms before sending them to the EC on October 30. He assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with localities to issue technical regulations on fishing ports to have a roadmap for investment and upgrading; continue to stick to the tasks and tasks assigned by the Prime Minister, resolutely take action and implement according to the set plan and goals.
