Melodies of May is a journey to bring German folk songs closer to Vietnamese people through traditional melodies of the Central European country in both Vietnamese and German. Each song is introduced and explained in detail about the meaning of the stories behind, helping listeners feel the cultural beauty and depth of soul in each melody.

Attending the program were German Ambassador to Vietnam Helga Margarete Barth, representative of the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam, Vice President of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association Nguyen Toan Thang, Chief Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Vietnam Florian Constantin Feyerabend, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy Nguyen Thi Thin, President of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Phu Binh.
The program received the attention of more than 200 German language students at universities and German language centers in Hanoi .
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Helga Margarete Barth shared: “ Over the past two years, the German Club of the Diplomatic Academy has become a valuable destination, a place for students who love German to meet and together improve their language skills and explore new perspectives. I really admire their enthusiasm and efforts, because learning German (a difficult language) is certainly a big challenge”.

According to Mr. Nguyen Toan Thang, Vice President of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association, “Melody of May” is a commendable initiative of the German Club of the Diplomatic Academy. In particular, the program is consistent with the Association’s motto and purpose, which is: “ to contribute to strengthening and expanding the solidarity, traditional friendship, and mutual understanding between the people of Vietnam and Germany”.
On this occasion, the German Club of the Diplomatic Academy was admitted and became a branch of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association.

In addition, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy Nguyen Thi Thin affirmed that more and more students are choosing German as their second foreign language and the German Club is becoming more and more active. Accordingly, the program “Melody of May” is a vivid demonstration of the Academy’s efforts in promoting understanding of German culture and people among young Vietnamese people.
"I hope this event will be a meaningful space for students to share ideas, enhance mutual understanding and find new ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries," Ms. Nguyen Thi Thin emphasized.

Ms. Chu Thu Phuong also summarized the growth journey of the German Club of the Diplomatic Academy. From a modest club with only 16 members, after 2 years of development, it has achieved many outstanding successes. The positive activities of the Club are recognized and highly appreciated, contributing to the good friendship between Vietnam and Germany.
The program "Melody of May" includes special performances such as the song "The World is Home" and the play "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". and performances by blind artists in the Choir of Hope.
In particular, besides the artistic performances, in the discussion section "Introducing German-Vietnamese folk songs", speakers and guests shared many stories about cultural exchange, identity values and the journey of translating folk songs from the Central European country.
