The funeral of referee Tran Dinh Thinh took place solemnly, with the presence of VFF and VPF leaders, colleagues and friends from near and far.
On the afternoon of August 6, the referees who had just finished their training course went to Dong Nai and were present at the funeral at nearly 2 a.m. on August 7.

Family held a ceremony for referee Tran Dinh Thinh on the morning of August 7.
Referee Tran Dinh Thinh's coffin will be buried at Phap Quang Pagoda Cemetery (Dong Nai).

Referee Tran Dinh Thinh, in addition to his professional refereeing work in the V-League, was also a physical education teacher at a school in Dong Nai. His colleagues and students at the school also came to say goodbye. Referee organizations, former players’ associations, and training centers also sent wreaths to bid him farewell.
VFF and VPF have coordinated with the family to arrange the funeral. The head of the funeral committee is Mr. Nguyen Van Phu – General Secretary of VFF, and the deputy head is Mr. Vo Van Hung – Deputy General Director of VPF. To help the family overcome the pain, VFF and VPF have also decided to provide financial support.
As soon as the training course ended, the referees and supervisors flew to the South to visit referee Thinh.

At today's funeral, VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu, Head of the Funeral Committee, read the eulogy to pay respects to referee Tran Dinh Thinh. Mr. Nguyen Van Phu was moved: " Today, in an atmosphere filled with grief and endless regret, we are here to say goodbye to a respected colleague, a talented and dedicated referee, an honest, upright and passionate person - referee Tran Dinh Thinh. Although the doctors and medical team tried their best to save him, what everyone wanted did not come true and referee Tran Dinh Thinh passed away at the age of 43, while still in the spirit of attachment and dedication to national professional tournaments with all his heart and responsibility.

This sudden passing is an extreme pain, an irreparable loss for his family members. At the same time, this is also a loss for our country's football, especially for our Vietnamese referee team. We understand that this pain will last, but we ask the family to stay strong and overcome this difficult period together.
Referee Tran Dinh Thinh has devoted all his heart and talent to his career as a "judge" on the field. With his fair heart, seriousness and steadfastness, he has contributed significantly to maintaining the fairness, civilization and beauty of the king of sports .
During more than a decade of involvement in national and international football tournaments, he has affirmed his position as one of the leading referees. His composure, accuracy and seriousness in each decision is a shining example for generations of colleagues. Those outstanding contributions have been recognized through noble titles: "Bronze Whistle" for the 2024 season, "Silver Whistle" for the 2024-2025 season, and especially the honor of being recognized as a FIFA referee in 2019.
He is not only a good referee, but also a valuable colleague, a dedicated teacher, always willing to share his knowledge and valuable experience with the younger generation, inspiring them with professional ethics, love for the profession and integrity. His closeness, sincerity and warmth have won the love of everyone. Above all, off the field, he is an exemplary husband, father, son and loves his family. His gentleness, modesty and simple, sincere lifestyle have left beautiful, deep impressions in the hearts of all who have known, met and worked with him.
Now, when he has gone to his final resting place, we have lost forever a talent, a beautiful personality, a shining example of love for the profession, dedication and integrity. This pain is great, it is hard to forget. In this emotional moment of farewell, let us together support the spirit, share the pain with the family, so that the family has more strength to overcome the most difficult days.
I would like to send referee Tran Dinh Thinh an emotional farewell and deep respect! He has excellently fulfilled his mission as a referee, as a true human being on both the field and in life. He will always be in the hearts of his colleagues, students, fans and especially in the boundless love of his family. Stay on motherland
After the funeral, referee Tran Dinh Thinh's coffin was taken to Phap Quang Pagoda Cemetery, Dong Nai. He will rest in peace where he grew up - next to his parents and family.
Referee Tran Dinh Thinh’s parents are both elderly. His father is currently being treated for a serious illness. His sudden passing has added to the family’s grief and loss. Over the past few days, both the old man and old woman have been in a daze, unable to speak.
