Mushroom growing techniques are quite simple, take advantage of available raw materials and are suitable for the idle farming time, so for over 10 years, this model has been associated with Mrs. Tran Thi Minh in Dong Tan residential group, Ha Huy Tap ward.
Currently, Ms. Minh has built a 230m² solid, closed factory, producing over 20,000 bags of mushrooms each season. Not only focusing on factory hygiene, controlling humidity, light and temperature, Ms. Minh is also careful in every step such as mixing substrate, sterilizing or caring for each mushroom spawn when it starts to sprout. Thanks to strict adherence to the technical process, mushrooms are harvested regularly and of good quality.

Although it has not been long since the land of Ky Xuan was established, many households have boldly invested in factories and diversified mushroom varieties. Thanks to strict adherence to production processes, mushrooms grow well and bring high efficiency. Notably, in addition to traditional oyster mushrooms, many households have boldly switched to growing mushrooms with high economic value such as lingzhi mushrooms and green lim mushrooms - which require higher techniques but also bring significant income. In particular, expanding mushroom varieties not only meets the diverse needs of the market but also opens up a direction for sustainable commodity production, contributing to creating new livelihoods for people in the coastal area of Ky Xuan, increasing economic value on the same production land area.
Mr. Phan Huy Tuan in Ky Xuan commune shared: "At first, when we planted more lingzhi and green lim mushrooms, we were also very worried because these are types of mushrooms that require higher techniques and the seed bags are more expensive. However, thanks to the local government allowing us to visit and learn from some models in the province and having commune agricultural officers closely follow the planting process, so far these types of mushrooms have all been successfully grown. It is expected that this Tet there will be many mushroom products to serve the market."

With the advantages it brings, mushroom growing is being expanded by Ha Tinh people. The whole province currently has nearly 300 mushroom production facilities with nearly 340 production households, an increase of 264 households compared to 2013. The area of mushroom farms has increased rapidly, from over 8,600 m2 in 2013 to nearly 90 thousand m2 in early 2025. The output of all kinds of mushrooms in 2013 was nearly 13 tons, now it has increased to over 300 tons. It is noteworthy that with the initiative and positivity in research and study of the Center for Science , Technology and Digital Transformation, Ha Tinh Department of Science and Technology, from a few types of edible mushrooms, up to now, Ha Tinh has mastered the technology, producing more than 20 different varieties of edible mushrooms and medicinal mushrooms. These types of mushrooms are being raised and grown by people, bringing high income and contributing to diversifying the industry. Many facilities have carried out deep processing, becoming experimental sites in new rural construction.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Thuong - Center for Science, Technology and Digital Transformation, Department of Science and Technology of Ha Tinh said: “Currently, mushroom growing is developing strongly in Ha Tinh and is increasingly expanding. Many households have focused on investing in machinery and equipment to ensure optimal mushroom production. We realize that this is a profession with great potential for development. In the coming time, we will continue to coordinate with localities to organize on-site training and practice sessions so that people can master knowledge about mushroom growing, improve the efficiency of mushroom growing models in Ha Tinh, contributing to increasing income and creating jobs for people in localities”.

Currently, mushroom growers in Ha Tinh are entering the main crop season. Along with increasing the area, cooperatives, cooperative groups and mushroom growers have focused on improving quality, connecting to the market and building into commodity products to develop the mushroom growing profession effectively and sustainably, contributing to improving the lives and promoting the rural economy of Ha Tinh.
