The Bao Dinh Canal Road Project in My Tho City is one of the important traffic projects that Tien Giang Province is focusing on implementing. Currently, relevant units are speeding up the site clearance process to speed up construction. Once completed, this project will create a new momentum for the development of My Tho City in particular and Tien Giang Province in general.

The Bao Dinh Canal Road Project has a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND, of which the estimated cost of site clearance is nearly 727 billion VND. The capital source for the project is the central budget of 1,350 billion VND and counterpart capital from the Tien Giang provincial budget.
The project will implement many items. In particular, the construction of a traffic route along both banks of the canal, with a total length of nearly 10km and the construction of a prestressed reinforced concrete embankment to protect the canal bank with a total length of over 10.2km. The north bank is over 6.7km long, with an 8m wide asphalt concrete road surface and a 4m wide sidewalk; the south bank, with a length of over 3.2km, has a 3.5m wide concrete road surface and a 0.5m wide sidewalk.
On the route, the project will build 3 prestressed reinforced concrete bridges, build a prestressed reinforced concrete embankment to protect the canal bank, with a total length of over 10km. In addition, the project will also arrange a drainage system, lighting system; arrange 3 parks and green areas along the sidewalks of the road on the north bank...
Director of the Project Management Board and Land Fund Development of My Tho City, Le Phi Vu, said that the sub-project of compensation, support and resettlement of the Bao Dinh canal road project has a total of 309 affected households, businesses and organizations. Of which, Ward 10 has 106 cases and Ward 5 has 109 cases.
Recently, the Project Management and Land Fund Development Board of My Tho city has carried out site clearance work in accordance with the process. Currently, the survey documents are being submitted to competent authorities for appraisal.
However, due to the contractor's construction methods not ensuring technical standards, when testing pile driving at embankment sections and load-reducing floors at bridge abutments, it affected people's houses.
Therefore, the next handover of the site to the Management Board of Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Projects of Tien Giang province (investor) will only be carried out when the measurement records are appraised by competent authorities.
Currently, the consulting package for survey, technical construction plan, cost estimate and construction of mine and explosive clearance has completed phase 1 for the handed over area (about 94% of the area, equivalent to over 26.4 hectares).
For the remaining area (about 6%, equivalent to nearly 1.7 hectares), the construction unit will conduct mine clearance immediately after the People's Committee of My Tho city hands over the site.

According to the Management Board of Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Projects of Tien Giang Province, the central capital plan for 2023 is 200 billion VND. The cumulative disbursement in 2023 is more than 153 billion VND, reaching 85.18%.
To ensure the project is implemented on schedule and with quality, the Management Board of Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Projects of Tien Giang province has requested the People's Committee of My Tho city to consider, urge and direct the early completion of site clearance work and support the Board to promptly organize and implement construction according to the set plan to ensure the project completion deadline and the progress of disbursement of assigned capital.
According to the People's Committee of Tien Giang province, the Bao Dinh canal road project is being implemented to invest in waterway and road traffic connecting Tien Giang and Long An, combining with urban embellishment of the central area of Tien Giang province and contributing to preventing and combating landslides on both banks of Bao Dinh canal, adapting to climate change; preventing and combating high tides; providing water for agricultural production and daily life of Tien Giang and Long An provinces. At the same time, the project also embellishes the central urban area of Tien Giang province, promoting tourism development linkage activities between Tien Giang and Long An provinces.
