On the evening of May 30, Tien Linh played as a substitute and witnessed his team lose to Cong An Ha Noi in the make-up match of round 23 of V-League 2024 - 2025 at Binh Duong Stadium.
Coach Nguyen Anh Duc said: "Tien Linh is injured but still wants to cheer for his teammates. He is the senior of the team and has a bigger responsibility, so he comes out to motivate the team."
Tien Linh is on the list of players to join the Vietnam national team during FIFA Day in June 2025. Today, coach Kim Sang Sik and his players will take to the field but some will be absent due to this make-up match.
Some players will be tested in the Vietnam team. If they do not meet the medical requirements, Tien Linh may have to return to Binh Duong to recover.
No matter how Tien Linh cheered, Binh Duong FC could not avoid a 1-3 defeat against Cong An Ha Noi. The home team took the lead thanks to Nguyen Thanh Nhan in the 55th minute.
However, because the squad was thin and there were not many alternatives, coach Anh Duc and his team let Cong An Ha Noi score 3 goals in a row in this match.
"I have nothing to be dissatisfied with. We did not have enough players, but the players still played with the same spirit and tried hard even though they were behind. I am satisfied with their performance," he said.
Coach Anh Duc said that in the coming time, he will start changing the team to prepare for the next season. Binh Duong Club has 29 points and will soon be relegated with 2 rounds to go.
Meanwhile, coach Alexandre Polking said: "I have nothing to criticize the referee, nor do I want to talk about the referee. However, too many stoppages in the match are not good for football. In many situations, the referee should have given the team an advantage instead of blowing the whistle."
After the match ended, midfielder Quang Hai went into the referee's cabin to complain directly to the main referee Tran Dinh Thinh. Afterwards, the two shook hands but neither side felt happy.
