Designer Chung Thanh Phong once designed costumes for star Pham Bang Bang to attend the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. American actress Caylee Cowan (starring in the films Frank and Penelope, Willy's Wonderland, Sunrise in Heaven ) twice chose costumes designed by Nguyen Minh Tuan. Music star Ariana Grande wore a floral embroidered dress by designer Tran Hung during the photoshoot for the album Eternal Sunshine and the MV We Can't Be Friends (Wait For Your Love).

Designing and making costumes for superstars must be paid a lot of money? Designer Cong Tri said: "When designing costumes for world stars, I do not make a direct profit because this is a mutually beneficial combination, and the person who benefits the most is me. International stars wear many costumes from famous designers or famous brands. Designers or big brands have to pay stars to wear their costumes because this is a promotional opportunity. As for me, they prefer not to have to pay to get that. It is mainly to promote Vietnamese designs to the world. That is a long-term benefit."
Enter the global industry
However, the question that needs to be raised is whether the fact that many world stars choose Vietnamese designers' outfits means that our fashion industry is developing, although this is clearly one of the things that makes the world pay more attention to Vietnamese fashion.
According to designer Cong Tri, it is very difficult for Vietnamese fashion products to access foreign markets because Vietnam is not the cradle of fashion. "To be accepted by foreign markets, we need to work hard, penetrate deeper into world fashion, but the most important thing is to create our own personality, carry Vietnamese identity and meet product quality requirements," he added. In addition, grasping world fashion trends, seizing opportunities to appear at major fashion events for integration is also a matter of concern.

Designer Si Hoang commented: In order for Vietnamese fashion to integrate more deeply, each designer needs to focus on a number of aspects. First, designers need to exploit and develop traditional cultural elements in a creative and unique way, turning them into inspiration for their collections. This helps create products that bear a strong personal mark but still express the characteristics of Vietnamese culture. In addition, it is necessary to grasp international fashion trends. Fashion is a global industry, designers need to constantly update the latest trends, understand the needs and preferences of the international market to be able to create products that suit global tastes. It is necessary to improve product quality, increase attention to quality from the selection of raw materials to the production process. Fashion products need to be made from good materials, ensuring durability and comfort when wearing, and must be meticulously finished to compete with international brands.

In addition, designer Si Hoang believes that each designer must build and develop their personal brand in a professional and consistent manner. This includes building images, logos, websites, managing social media channels, and interacting with customers. It is necessary to cooperate internationally in the fashion industry, seeking opportunities to cooperate with international designers, brands, and organizations to learn, exchange experiences, and introduce products to foreign markets. Designers need to focus on using environmentally friendly materials, optimizing production processes to minimize negative impacts on the environment, and moving towards sustainable development.
"Of course, the most important thing is that the fashion industry must receive support from the Government , creating conditions for designers to break through and build brands. From there, the Vietnamese textile and garment industry can gradually escape the problem of outsourcing to foreign countries," designer Si Hoang concluded. (to be continued)
