According to Spanish media sources, Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal is playing in pain due to pubalgia, a chronic groin injury that has caused him to lose the flexibility and explosiveness that are his strong points in his playing style.

The injury causes a dull ache in the pubic bone area, and is often aggravated by high-intensity exercise, especially in high-profile matches such as El Clasico. During the match against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, Yamal was said to have difficulty moving and limited shooting, a sign that he was having to "bite the bullet" to play.
Barcelona sources say the medical team are closely monitoring Yamal's workload to avoid the condition worsening. This concern is not only present at the club but also extends to the Spanish national team, where Yamal is an irreplaceable factor.
Dr. Pedro Luis Ripoll revealed on El Larguero: “This type of injury is very difficult to treat. It causes pain that reduces the player's ability to move and shoot by almost 50% – something we saw clearly in El Clasico.
He added: “He barely kicked the ball, had difficulty moving and had to constantly stretch his muscles. This is a temporary pain, the player can still play, but cannot reach his peak form, significantly affecting performance.”
Dr. Ripoll also emphasized that this injury does not cause structural damage to the joint, but it takes weeks, even months, to fully recover if not treated properly.
This assessment coincides with what Barcelona fans shared on social media after the El Clasico. Although Yamal still plays regularly, it is clear that he is not in the best physical condition.

In addition to Yamal, Dr. Ripoll also shared about the injury situation of Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid captain, who has just had a relapse of his right knee injury, which forced him to take a long break last season.
Real Madrid confirmed Carvajal is suffering from a “foreign body in the joint”, which is a piece of bone or cartilage that has broken off and moves freely inside the joint, causing swelling, pain and in severe cases can cause the joint to lock.
“It’s a small piece of the joint surface, usually cartilage and bone, that breaks off and moves uncontrollably,” explains Dr. Ripoll. “If it’s in a weight-bearing area, it’s much more serious.”
