Looking for "owner" for 38 billion VND model vocational training center abandoned for more than ten years

On June 18, the office of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province said that Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province Tran Hoang Tuan had issued an official dispatch directing a number of contents related to the acceptance of the Son Tinh Model Vocational Training Center project (Tinh Phong commune, Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai province).

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction and relevant agencies, units and localities to study the content of the proposal of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, on the proposal to assign and receive the Son Tinh Model Vocational Training Center project to another competent unit.

Many investment projects are unfinished.

Quang Ngai provincial leaders directed the above units to review the units in need of using the Son Tinh Model Vocational Training Center project after it is handed over, ensuring its effectiveness and compliance with regulations; consult the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and decision; completion time before July 30, 2024.

Many items are degraded.

It is known that the Son Tinh Model Vocational Training Center project, which was implemented in Tinh Phong commune, Son Tinh district since 2012, was invested by the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, with a total cost of nearly 38 billion VND.

The stairs leading to the second floor in a block of buildings at the Son Tinh Model Vocational Training Center were severely damaged.

The purpose of construction is to ensure facilities for elementary vocational training to equip vocational learners with the ability to practice a simple profession or the ability to practice some tasks of a profession, creating conditions for vocational learners to be able to find jobs, create jobs for themselves or continue studying at a higher level.

Many unfinished projects

After starting construction in March 2014, the project stopped due to lack of capital. In February 2016, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province decided to transfer the project to Ho Chi Minh City College of Industry and Trade to continue investing, ensuring completion and putting the project into service for the 2016-2017 school year.

However, after more than 6 years of receiving, Ho Chi Minh City College of Industry and Trade has sent a document requesting to return the project to Quang Ngai province.

The project has been abandoned for many years, many items have been seriously degraded.
