Foreign tourist found after hours lost climbing Fansipan

NDO - The functional forces of Sa Pa town (Lao Cai province) have just coordinated to search and successfully rescue a Dutch tourist who got lost while climbing Fansipan peak, in Hoang Lien National Park.

Previously, the police of Hoang Lien commune, Sa Pa town received a report that Mr. Christian, born in 1965, a Dutch national, had gone missing while climbing Fansipan mountain. Mr. Christian started climbing Fansipan peak at around 9am on March 3.

At around 4 p.m. that same day, he sent his last text message to his wife, Nathalie Margaretha Carola, informing her that his phone was running out of battery and that he might have to spend the night in the woods. After that, Carola was unable to contact her husband and reported the incident to the authorities.

Immediately after receiving the news, the People's Committee of Hoang Lien commune mobilized emergency search and rescue forces, including the commune police, security and order forces at the grassroots level, the commune military , forest rangers, and other forces to quickly conduct the search.

After many hours of searching, at around 11:00 a.m. on March 4, authorities found Mr. Christian in Sin Chai village, Hoang Lien commune, in stable health condition.

He has now been taken to a safe place for medical care and mental recovery.
