Remains found at the site where actor Julian Sands went missing 5 months ago

The body was discovered around 10 a.m. near Mount Baldy and will be sent for identification next week, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

Julian Sands, an avid climber and hiker, was reported missing on January 13 after climbing a 3,000-meter peak east of Los Angeles. The area was hit by winter storms.

The actor's family has released their first statement since his disappearance. "We continue to hold Julian in our hearts with the brightest memories as a father, husband, great adventurer, lover of the natural world and the arts, and a unique performer," the statement said.

Sands, a 65-year-old British-born actor best known for his role in the 1985 film “A Room With a View,” is married to journalist Evgenia Citkowitz and has three children.

Sands starred in the horror film Warlock (1989) and its sequel The Armageddon (1993). He also co-starred with Jackie Chan in the action comedy The Medallion (2003).
