TPO - The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has just proposed a holiday schedule for the Lunar New Year 2025. According to the proposal, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 5 days off, plus 4 days off every week, the total number of days off during the Lunar New Year 2025 can last 9 days.
The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs is seeking opinions from ministries and sectors on the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday plan. Accordingly, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs proposes a 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule of 5 days as prescribed, including 2 days before Tet and 3 days after Tet. Specifically, civil servants and public employees will have the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday from Saturday, January 25, 2025 to Sunday, February 2, 2025 (ie December 26, Giap Thin year to January 5, At Ty year). With this plan, during the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday, civil servants and public employees will have 9 days off, including 5 days off for Lunar New Year and 4 days off every week.
Every year, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs consults with relevant agencies and advises the Prime Minister to decide on the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays for civil servants, public employees and workers. The annual Lunar New Year holiday schedule is not fixed because the Labor Law only stipulates a 5-day Tet holiday. According to the 2019 Labor Law, each year, workers are entitled to 11 official holidays and Tet holidays with full pay, including: New Year's Day (1 day), Lunar New Year (5 days), Hung King's Commemoration Day (10-3 lunar month) (1 day), Victory Day (30-4 lunar month) (1 day), International Labor Day (1 day) and National Day (2 days). When working on holidays, workers receive at least 300% of their salary, of which 100% is taxable income and 200% is non-taxable income.
