The general goal by 2030 is that Ca Mau will become a fairly developed province in the Mekong Delta; have a synchronous and gradually modern infrastructure system; have human resources to meet development needs; the ecosystem will be preserved and effectively adapt to climate change. National defense, security, order and social safety will be ensured; people will have a prosperous and happy life.

In particular, Ca Mau strives for an average economic growth rate (GRDP) of over 7.5% per year in the 2021 - 2030 period. The scale of GRDP in 2030 is 2 - 2.5 times higher than in 2020.

Economic structure: The proportion of the fishery, agriculture and forestry sector accounts for about 23%; industry and construction account for about 36.5%; services account for about 37%; product taxes minus product subsidies account for about 3.5%.

GRDP per capita reached over 146 million VND.

In terms of society, the rate of schools meeting national standards is over 80%. The rate of trained workers is over 65%, of which the rate of trained workers with degrees and certificates is over 30%.

Vision to 2050, Ca Mau is a province with developed economy, civilized and modern society, adapting to climate change; cultural values bearing the identity of Ca Mau people are preserved and promoted. Ecological environment, biodiversity are protected and preserved. Economic - social infrastructure, digital infrastructure are developed synchronously and modernly. Politics, national defense, security are maintained, social order and safety are ensured.

The key task of Ca Mau province is to proactively propose the development of appropriate mechanisms and policies to mobilize resources for marine economic development, focusing on investment in Hon Khoai General Seaport, Nam Can Economic Zone, Ca Mau Province Electricity Export Project (after being approved by competent authorities), renewable energy; development of transport infrastructure, urban areas, industrial parks, industrial clusters, tourism, infrastructure for natural disaster prevention and control and adaptation to climate change.

Focus on administrative reform, improving the business investment environment; applying science and technology, innovation; training high-quality human resources to serve socio-economic development; implementing comprehensive digital transformation.

Fisheries is a key economic sector.

In the development direction, fisheries, agriculture and forestry develop in a modern, smart manner, applying science and technology and innovation, sustainably, adapting to climate change; developing production linkages according to the organic ecological agricultural value chain. Aquaculture is a key economic sector; building and operating a focal center associated with raw material areas for aquatic products contributes to promoting production, processing and developing the aquatic product value chain.

Organize and arrange the space for developing fisheries, agriculture and forestry in 3 regions: Northern Ca Mau region, Southern Ca Mau region, coastal and island regions. In which, preserve and protect the freshwater ecosystem in Tran Van Thoi district and U Minh district.

Building and developing Ca Mau province into a national marine economic center; investing in the construction of Hon Khoai General Seaport, Nam Can Economic Zone, Ong Doc River Port associated with the development of industrial parks and coastal urban areas; developing high-tech, efficient and sustainable marine aquaculture; applying science and technology and innovation in post-harvest preservation and deep processing to increase the added value of marine products.

Developing the marine economy in conjunction with protecting resources and ecological environment, firmly ensuring national defense, security and sovereignty over seas and islands; developing and sustainably managing the marine economy in a comprehensive manner, managing the sea based on space, interdisciplinary with the participation of communities and businesses.

Make tourism an important economic sector

Ca Mau develops sustainable tourism in a professional and modern direction, associated with preserving and promoting cultural and historical values; making tourism an important economic sector; linking and cooperating in tourism development with localities in the region, the whole country and internationally. Promoting the geographical advantage of the province as the southernmost point of the country; building, positioning and enhancing the tourism brand of Ca Mau "Southernmost point - Discovery - Environment - Connection", in which the Ca Mau Cape National Tourist Area becomes one of the centers of eco-tourism, experiencing unique mangrove forests, an important destination on the tourist routes of the Mekong Delta.
