Vietnam's investment situation abroad in 2024

(MPI) – In 2024, Vietnam's total investment capital abroad will reach nearly 664.8 million USD, an increase of 57.7% compared to 2023.

In 2024, Vietnamese investors invested in 164 new projects abroad and adjusted investment capital 26 times. Vietnam's total investment capital abroad reached nearly 664.8 million USD (an increase of 57.7% compared to 2023).

Vietnamese investors have invested abroad in 16 sectors. Of which, investment capital is most concentrated in professional and scientific and technological sectors (accounting for 30.2% of capital, while in 2023 there were no projects in this sector); processing and manufacturing industry (accounting for 21% of capital, 8.7 times higher than the same period); electricity production and distribution (accounting for 14.2%, up 12.1% compared to 2023). The rest are other sectors.

There are 31 countries and territories receiving investment from Vietnam in 2024. The countries attracting the most investment from Vietnam are Laos (accounting for 28.8% of capital, an increase of 62.2% compared to 2023); Indonesia (accounting for 20.7% of capital, 227 times higher than in 2023); India (accounting for 13.5% of capital, 59.7 times higher than the same period);...

By the end of 2024, Vietnam had 1,825 valid foreign investment projects with a total Vietnamese investment capital of more than 22.59 billion USD.

Of which, Vietnamese investors have invested abroad in 18/21 sectors, focusing most on mining (over 7 billion USD, accounting for 31% of capital); agriculture, forestry and fishery (nearly 3.4 billion USD, accounting for 15% of capital) and information and communication (over 2.84 billion USD, accounting for 12.6% of capital).

The localities receiving the most investment from Vietnam are Laos (nearly 5.7 billion USD, accounting for 25.1% of capital); Cambodia (nearly 2.94 billion USD, accounting for 13% of capital); Venezuela (nearly 1.83 billion USD, accounting for 8.1% of capital)./.
