Overview of the 9th Vietnam - Laos Labor Ministers' Conference

(Dan Tri) - The 9th Vietnam - Laos Labor Ministers' Conference was a great success, marking an important milestone in cooperation in the field of labor and meritorious people between the two countries.

The 9th Vietnam - Laos Labor Ministers' Conference took place on the morning of November 12 in Ninh Binh .

Vietnamese Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh and Lao Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Phosay Sayasone co-chaired the conference. Also attending were Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Mai Van Tuat and leaders of the two ministries.

Leaders and delegates attending the conference performed a solemn flag-saluting ceremony before the event.

Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh delivered the opening speech at the 9th Vietnam - Laos Labor Ministers' Conference.

The Minister said that the Party and State of Vietnam have a steadfast and consistent policy in relations with Laos, considering this a top priority in foreign policy. The two countries have always continuously consolidated and developed the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

Looking back at the cooperation between the two Ministries since 1963, Minister Do Thanh Binh assessed that over the past 60 years, the cooperation has developed to a new level. The two Ministries have regularly maintained the organization of Ministerial Conferences every two years.

Emphasizing the specific achievements demonstrating the effectiveness of cooperation, Minister Do Thanh Binh informed that in the field of training, hundreds of Lao officials have been supported through exchange activities, study and research delegations as well as short, medium and long-term training scholarships, contributing to improving management capacity and developing skills in Laos.

Speaking at the conference, Lao Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Phosay Sayasone said that the current complex, rapid and unpredictable regional and international context has directly affected countries around the world , including Laos.

However, under the direction of the Party, Government, local authorities, the contribution of the whole society, the support of friendly countries and international organizations, the socio-economic development situation of Laos has gradually recovered and maintained macroeconomic stability.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Ninh Binh province Mai Van Tuat spoke at the conference.

Vietnamese Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh and Lao Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Phosay Sayasone co-chaired the conference.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Cao Huy reported on the results of the Senior Officials' Conference in preparation for the Ministerial Conference. The report included discussions and sharing of policies on labor, employment, meritorious people and digital transformation. In addition, there was an assessment of the cooperation results for 2024-2025 and a cooperation plan for 2026-2027.

The two Ministers co-chaired and discussed the contents of the conference.

Immediately after the speech of the Lao Minister of Labor and Social Welfare and the concluding remarks of the Vietnamese Minister of Home Affairs was the signing ceremony of documents between the two Ministries.

The signed contents include a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of labor and meritorious people between the two ministries and the minutes of the Ministerial Conference.
